using FLIR they will see the core of your hid bulbs through the hoods through your walls light up brighter than anything else in your house. Flir detects any and all heats and puts them on a color scale for comparison of temperatures. It is not anything like regular infrared. If I can find the link of a company who sells a material you can wrap the hoods of your light Ill post it. They have a side by side comparison of a grow room being detected by flir and what it looked like when you wrap your hoods. I believe the U.S. supreme court made it illegal to use it as a basis for probable cause. However if they suspect you grow (thru a narc), they can then attempt to get a warrant to confirm as long as the probable cause already exists

Do they still use helicopters to do that? It can cost like thousands an hour to fly those things. You would think they would just use drones and map em out a GPS flight plan for a shift. I dunno.

This is a grow house under regular infrared. As soon as I can find flir I will post it.
This is the best example Ive been able to find on flir. This is a dual bulb setup inside back to back grow tubes. Also there are different systems/combinations of flir and infrared that are simply more powerful and able to see thru walls

Good flir systems would require a military type drone. They are simply to heavy for commercial drones. In a county I used to live in, the local sheriffs dept acquired an old military helicopter that had a flir system already installed and all hell broke loose.

yes they still use choppers for this and no they cannot see your HID bulbs lol. what they can see and what they are looking for is particular rooms in a house or building that is significantly warmer than the rest. look up some pic and vid of FLIR footage. so much false info about FLIR out there lol....
STE147 you should be fine with your chimney setup and try to make sure your grow room or better yet the room your grow room is in is somewhat close to the same temps as the rest of the house or building and you'll be fine.

As soon as I find the picture of one with the 4 bright red spots seen thru a houses roof I will post it. The stronger the system the more penetration. You wont see the actual shape of the bulb, however its much more detailed than just a bright red wall distinctively showing you 4 hot spots

ACKKKKK! You know our legal system generates an economy just like every other industry. Scary. Man I didn't do nothing! Legalization is coming soon even outside Colorado in my opinion. Give the communities a choice. If you wanna live in a weed area you can. Don't want to live in a weed area just move to one. Freedom means choice. Just my opinion.

sorry fiberglass nor concrete will block it. Not all flir are created equal. Im not talking about the iphone flir case. The house I remember seeing showed the roof in dark orange with 4 fuzzy darker red spots. Just having trouble finding it. its been years since someone had shown it to me

IR doesn't see through walls, it sees the temperatures of the exposed surfaces and one must infer what source of thermal radiation would provide such heat signature.

im typing too fast and may have misled. Not saying they can see thru walls like xray. Simply saying a good flir will show you more than a bright colored wall. It can show hot spots
