Hey guys, i was wondering, well, first read this article

Police use thermal imaging to uncover cannabis factories

Thermal imaging cameras are being used by police to reveal homes concealing secret cannabis factories.

The hand-held equipment detects the extreme heat created by lighting systems used in the intensive rearing of marijuana plants.

Properties where cannabis is being grown will release up to 10 times the amount of heat of an average family home.

Police said the crop from just one house can be worth more than £70,000.

Officers in London have successfully used the cameras for the first time in the Haringey area of the capital.

They patrolled residential streets looking for suspicious heat emissions from buildings.

Officers seized a "significant" amount of cannabis and drugs paraphernalia after raids on two properties today.

Sergeant Ian Pyles, who led the operation from St Ann's Road police station, said: "This latest technology has allowed us to quickly identify houses in Haringey which have been turned into cannabis factories.

"The equipment means we can covertly film a line of properties and identify the factory when the thermal image glows white-hot.

"In some cases, so much heat is being emitted that the house will look as though it's ablaze."

He added: "With one house crop of cannabis being worth in excess of £70,000, we have to work hard to put the growers out of business.

"Drugs in local communities can ruin lives and we are determined to improve the borough for the benefit of everyone."

The two raids today took place at homes in Braemar Road and Roslyn Road in South Tottenham.

Haringey borough commander Simon O'Brien said: "We work hard to make Haringey one of the safest London boroughs and will use all means to help us achieve that goal.

"This type of technology is the way forward for the Met and will ensure that we stay one step ahead of the criminals and drug dealers.

"The camera, supplied to the Met by Devon-based Frontline Products, is currently being piloted in Haringey and is due to be used for several future operations."

DO you think CFL such as http://www.plugandgrow.co.uk/ lights wouldnt be detected on thermal readers?

You'll be under the radar with CFL's. And maybe in the future with LED's that produce almost zero heat and perfect chlorophyll producing spectrum.

cfls dont give off nearly enough heat for that. they would pick up your regular bulbs in every room befor those. altho if you are getting a few 200w it might be a little warm. if you have a space above your grow area (attic) and you grow on the inside of the room (away from outside walls) they shouldnt be able to see anything. all they look for is a section of a wall that is hotter than the rest. also areas were heat buildup concentrates above ballasts and lamps that dont have enough space above to cool befor heating an outside roof.

seriously, the police are not gonna raid your house over a small room that has heat in it. I have used a $250,000 thermal/nightvision sight (used on a Javelin missile).it is not that easy. a "Factory" which their are referring too is basically the house is rented out or sold to just grow weed in it, almost every room. THOSE houses will stick out, 1000w bulbs hanging everywhere. think about it, i use a couple of space heaters to help heat my home, those put out tons more heat than my CFL set up, there are too many variables, thats my rant

correct me if I am wrong but they are ineffective during daytime. def an invasion of privacy issue. For example, in the U.S. cops need some strong evidence before a judge will issue a warrant.
as for cfl's? shit, you probably have a smaller heat signature than most of your surrounding homes. I would be more concerned with the politcal aspect of what is next in terms of your privacy.

ur odors will come in late flowering. shouldnt be too much from 1-3 plants. not condoning anything here and with reward comes risk. build a grow box that is completely concealable

what do u want help with? buy it if it makes you feel better. there is plenty of info on carbon filter and scrubbers but unless you got more than 2 -3 plants I wouldnt worry about it

im having trouble posting pics atm, if you clicked on the link you'd see what im talking about right away, my question is if it would help out with the odor control? does it look effective?
