Poor Mans Seed Germing Tek (24-72hrs depending on seeds)

Okay RUI, I've seen some good seed germination techniques here, but many of them involve things like rapid rooter, ph testing your water, etc. In an effort to help out people with little to no experience/capital, I've decide to share my fool proof meathod. This was passed to me by a friend who sells and decided to guess and check for speed, effectiveness, and budget concerned growers such as himself. Here is a list of what you will need:

- Access to clean warm (not hot) water, even tap water will do at this stage
- Access to paper towels
- Access to a small kitchen tupperware container
- Access to a standard coffee mug
- And of course access to seeds

1. First thing you need to do is gather your materials.
2. Fill your mug with warm, not hot, water.
3. Drop your seeds in the warm water for one hour, wait till complete before continuing to step four.
4. Dampen (almost to the point of wetness) one paper towel with warm water.
5. Place the paper towel in the bottom of your tupperware.
6. Place your seeds on top of the paper towel.
7. Dampen another paper towel the same as in step four.
8. Gently press the other paper towel on top of your seeds (do not squeez water out of the towels.)
9. Close the lid of your tupperware.
10. Put the tupperware in a room that is 73 degrees or warmer (a garage works in spring or summertime)
11. Check after 24 hours. Check every 12hours until your seeds have a taproot of desired length (at least .5cm is good enough)
12. Plant your seeds in your desired grow medium and begin the rest of your grow project.

The idea is to close the lid and store in a reletively warm environment to cause humidity inside. Germing is 100% with healthy seeds, and usually shows after 36hrs depending on seed quality.

i've planted seeds directly into peat plugs ($7 for 36) with no soaking or waiting for them to crack and tap root. the plugs were soaked in warm-room temperature tap water and kept moist by spraying them with the same. both sprouted in under five days, just as fast as any other method, but you skip one entire process. if you don't want to buy peat plugs, do what i initially did and cut an egg carton apart and fill the holes with peat moss or potting soil. homemade jiffy tray. it has virtually as good water retention too.

Good idea with the peet. However, this post was for people who didn't want to spend money.

Well, I appreciate that the O.P was just trying to be helpful. And hey...why would they put "lather, rinse, repeat" on shampoo if SOMEONE didn't need it?

Okay I get it, sorry for trying to be thorough lol. I guess I've just seen enough "just throw it in a paper towel" threads; which don't seem to be enough for new users who want to know everything right now, and will continue to ask questions when the answer is right in front of them lol. Have fun growing all...I'm getting on my flight back to see the wifey!
