Potential problem already?? Any thoughts

So she's an outdoor plant, but I bring her in the house at night, up until last night. I noticed a hole basically at the joint of two stems (lower level of plant). At first I only noticed it on the top of the joint, but now it seems the same hole has made it to the underside joint as well.
I haven't spotted any bugs or signs of infestation, but I know it can show signs pretty quick if in early stages. There's some small bruisings to some leaves (as pictured). I don't know what this could be-I've researched bugs/dealt with them last season, but haven't a clue what this is. Since it's just the one stem/leaf in this shape, should I just cut it off as close to the stalk as possible, spray with pesticide soap? I welcome any thoughts/suggestions.
