Potentiometer wiring question

Thanks for all the help!

I've only run it for short periods so far(1-3 hours) to make sure things are ok. Those heatsinks are beasts and seem to do a great job of cooling the cobs. The driver Meanwell HLG-240h-C which I'm running @ 1750mah does get pretty hot, I have never encountered or used leds before so I have no real basepoint for how hot it should run. I can touch it and hold my hand on it for 5-10 seconds before it starts to hurt haha.

I also may need additional fans, right now the temps ranged from 77-81F which from my googling seems to be the absolute upper limit of what you want it to be at. I'd love to keep it under 80 for sure.
Well you are in luck man. Cause I use same drive and made 2 bars. So can give u those temps shortly. Def get hot to the touch but should not actually burn u.

First two drivers are on 240v last one is on 120v. 120v always is hotter then 220v first pic is a A type driver turned all the way up.
Well hot damn!(pun kinda intended) you are version 2.0 of me with all the cool tools and information haha.

I can touch the driver and it's definitely hot, not hot enough to burn but uncomfortable to leave you hand on it for more then 5-10 seconds.

I still have a lot of fine tuning to do, I have way more light then I need(or so I've been told) for such a small area(32gal trash can) so I will probally turn the pot down to like 3/4 way and see if she runs cooler. Are pot's linear? I.e if the pot is at 50% is it only putting out 50% power?

i would actually highly suggest it because you will also want to check temps at the leaves of your plant. Good way to judge distance from plants. Cheap also and an item that will be used quite often for those particular purposes. I honestly keep my temps around 75 in my tent anything higher then 78 i use c02.If i am running c02 it stays at 82 and 1500ppm

Good call, I kinda assumed those things where expensive. I think I know what one of my amazon gift cards is gonna buy haha.

I'm doing another test/stress run to make sure it doesn't blow up or catch fire and after 2 1/2 hours things are pretty damn hot. The driver became super hot, 5 seconds was about the max I could touch it. From my understanding these meanwells have thermal protection built in and should shut it self down at a certain threshold, it has not shut down or anything so it's withing the "safe" temps. But it's hotter then I expected so I just turned it down on the pot to 6 out of 10 turns. I could be over worrying since I really have no idea what normal temps are...it is still much cooler then a normal light bulb...so..yea I have that going for me haha.

The drivers get way cooler if hooked up to 220-240v. Also you are driving those lil hard i believe i prob would of went with a 185-1750 for 2 vero 29. Id say always keep em dimmed to about 60-70%. or get a 3rd cob and crank it up lol. They fit in closet really well. Did this over the weekend with a 240-1750b and 4 cxb3590

Nice setup man! Are those Mechtronix heatsinks? The ones I got are monsters, I didn't expect them to be so big/heavy haha.

I plan on eventually upgrading my grow area and I didn't want to spend a bunch now only to have to re-buy more stuff later. I wanted to try to future proof the parts. So while I'm driving them hard now, hopefully soon I can get them into a bigger space.

Ha same here or I'm gonna get the 133 northern has. I have 19 cxms that need heatsinks. So either 133 or sstx for me when get more funds. Trying to get rid of the cxb3590 bars right now to some friends.

Nice! I almost held out to get some of the CXM's but I had spent the last month+ picking and planning parts and the advantage the CXM's have over the gen 7 Vero's wasn't big enough for me to start my research over. Also at the time I could not find any online...

Here is everything you could ever want to know about dimming brought to you by the master.

That is a GREAT link, thanks! I'm going to give it a good read later.
