thanks kho. I googled it and found it is 2700k. Surprised they dont list that on the box. :) Will be using this setup in my next autoflowering closet grow. The bulbs should be perpendicular to the plants, correct?

yep side of the bulb to the plant and yeah ive noticed that on a few brand they dont label the colors because alot of people dont kno or look for the temps and most of the time they have them labeled as like daylight or warm or cool

thats what i was going to say!! bizarre coincidence i guess with the lumens. once i set it up i noticed a definite "warm" "soft" definitely red glow. happy to see you found your answer! this is pretty much an open CFL discussion thread, so feel free to share any CFL related goodness whenever.

not to steal thread but this is my fixture i made... i will upgrade to another one or even two if needed im just now on day 3 so i have no prob with the light i have now and for 50$usd a pop it aint a bad light.... and based on another forum these lights put out 12,000 to 13,450 lumens so about how many plants could i grow if i had 2 rigs and or 4 rigs... thus producing 24,000 to 26,900 lumens or 48,000 to 53,800 lumens.... i have a 2.5'W x 2.5'D x 5'H

i would love to have a 12-16 plant garden which is harvested every 3 months from clones....

i also plan on topping and fimming if someone can help me when i get there in my grow! thanx Riukiss-ass

not sure where you got your info on the lumens. its become pretty common knowledge (because the HID growers like to rub it in our faces!) that the CFL lumens dont "add up", you have 2 100 lumen bulbs.. you don't have 200 lumens, you have 100 lumens that you can disperse a little better because you have two bulbs. i can't remember the thread, or the author user, but! he did research/tests with a light meter and sure enough the lumens didn't jump with even 10-15 CFL bulbs going. his data was the basis for my CFL growing, good "theory" work.

that fixture you have is VERY nice and could do you well throughout veg, honestly the grow you're discussing (of your dreams!!!) with 2 and or 4 rigs... you can get about 2 plants under each fixture, but thats kinda pushing it during flower. if you're setting up a large cab for the grow, you'll want to consider auxiliary lighting, that is to say single bulbs placed here and there as the plant needs them. those in addition to multiple strip fixtures will make for a successful multi-plant and topped grow.

(oh and you weren't thread jacking, this discussion is what i started the thread for!!!)

to me those look like 68 watters and 26 watters maybe the 26 watters are 42s idk cant see close enough but the 68s are 4200 lumens each and the 26 are 1750 each give or take 50 due to brand differences but if those fixtures you got will defently cover veg like shack said but maybe one or two more fixtures would be great for flower its really all surface area (sq foot) 3000 lumens per sqft is decent 6000 per is sweet 10000 + per is sun quality but of course you dont get penetration with cfls so gotta be close and if its tall you gotta have side supplement lights but like your sayin with a small perpetual setup with say 25 30 4 inch trained plants would make your day sweet id start a role every week so in two months your pullin a role of plants every week thatd be a dream but it takes some time to dial it in to be pulling ang startin on time every week

ok so set it up for constant flowering/vegging/cloning and or sprouting.... so two to three plant should be produced every 2-4-6 weeks as disired or atleast able to afford... im considering a 2 200 watt 6500k and 2 more 48 watt 6500k to complete veg and then swap the 2 200 watt 6500k for 2-4 125 watt 2700k .... let me know im starting to develop the cfl lumen restriction lol but i wil make it work... Thx

haha an xbox?! even standing vertically i don't you have NEARLY enough space for it to be worth your time or effort. there was a shotglass competition recently (still a current thread) the best yield i saw out of it was about 4 grams, the effort you'll put into mod'ing an XBOX to grow will not be worth it. Stick to your PC.

Some links for you..

Spoon420's PC Grow
He just harvested a little over an ounce, he has DEFINITELY set the bar for PC grows

Shot Glass Grow Off
Check it out, it's just kinda fun, but if you're planning to do a grow, this is a bad place to start LOL takes a bit of skill to actually manage to keep a plant healthy in such confined conditions, and this is more or less what you would have to do in an XBOX

good luck! happy growing!

Anyone in the UK managed to make 1 of these?

Having trouble tracking down the power socket light bulb adapters here :(

Cant seem to find them anywhere... can anyone help?

pff you're not the only one ... in other parts of the world (read europe) is as hard to find that kind of adapters ... and ordering them online via web ain't quite the brightest ideea. I have a grow box in mind made out of pfl ply wood, with the following sizes, 1 metre long, 60 centimetres wide and 1.2 metres tall in us sizes I think it would translate something like 3.2 feel L, 2 feet w and about 4 feet h, I'm planing to grow just for personal use about 2 or 3 plants, I would like more but I also wouldn't want to over crowd them and would like a clean well ventilated and organised growing enviroment. I'll fit the whole box with some reflexive tape and I would like some help in the lighting area, I'm going for the CFL as I think it's the best on the budget :D what do you think it's the best setup I should go for ? I do need to mention that in this part of europe there aren't all of the above solutions available, but I'll try to make the best of what there is. At least there's no worry of people finding out or stuff like that :)) So how much light ? How many CFL bulbs and what kind ? :D thanks in advance !

i made one of these but i used y spliters. so i got 8 bulbs on one strip. i used tape to hold the socket adapters in place. works pretty good.
