i just bought a new meter it will give me ppm and also the ec range ....the question i have is that when i watch videos or read books they will say u need like 1300 ppm so on most meters they give u a three digit number and a blinking times ten is also shown ....easy enough so if you got a reading of 130 and a times 10 u have 1300.....well on a lot of videos and book for EC will tell you like a plant needs a ec value 2.3 to 2.5 ec for instance ....now when i switch my meter to ec it almost like the ppms i will get a reading on the meter like 180 plus the blinkin 10 so thats 1800 so do i shorten that to 1.8 is this what they mean or am i doing somthin wrong

No absolutely not!

EC mesurement use coversion of .5 or .7, both gives different results in ppm.
You should read the manual of your tester because 1.8 is not going to be 1800ppm.
