Pre-Harvest - Leave Roots in Air?

Have any DWC growers tried leaving roots in air (drained res) for 24 hrs before harvest? I've heard this often and frankly, it makes as much sense as a period of dark before harvest. I always do an air bath when changing the res and I think it stilulates the roots. But I don't know about 24-36 hrs. The idea of the dark is to stress the plant into pushing out the max thc. The roots might begin to dry out some in the that time, but so what? What harm can it do? Soil growers let soil get especially dry right before harvest.

Good question IS. I was thinking the exact same thing. My thoughts are that it is a good idea because it will definitely speed up the drying process. Like you said, it shouldn't matter if the roots dry out because the plant doesnt need them any more. Does anyone have any experience doing this that would like to chime in?

That is something to think about, but some growers wait till after drying to trim, so it can't be that bad, right? It's not like they would be dry and crispy.

I thought of drooping leaves but I don't think they would droop that fast. There is still plenty of water in the plant and it would be directed up to the tops. If I try it I will check on them with a green led and if I see drooping either give them water or chop them then and there.

Ok. I will be harvesting some time next week so I will try out the no water for 24 hours and let you know how it goes.

It will be interesting but my guess is it will be hard to say there is any difference either way. I mean, what can you really compare the result to?

Actually, since I am growing from bagseed, I will be harvesting at different times. The first 2 that I harvest will have water up until the day I chop, but the third will be cut a few days later I think so I will run this experiment on that one.

Interesting! We will anxiously wait for results.
