preparing for my 2nd grow

For my second grow I would like to go organic. I will be using either Subcools super soil or one of LC's mixes. My grow are is a dr120 tent 4x4 tent with a 600w air cooled hps and a 400wmh for veg. I would also like to do a scrog for my next grow with possibly 9 plants. 3 rows of 3 in 3gallon pots. Right now I am running 1 extrema, 2 nycdxafghan, and 2 chemdxafghan. I'm using ffof/fflw and their nutrient lineup. I would like to go organic so I will not have to worry about mixing my nutrients as they will be in the soil. And molasses would be the only thing to mix in. I have 5 more extrema beans to pop and 3 purple widow. After my first grow I am going to purchase(or build) a small cab for veg and using t5s for clones and moms and possibly get another ballast to throw another 600w in the tent. After smoking the lemon kush I have now I realize I've gone into a ramble. So any thoughts, questions, ideas, or suggestions are very welcome here.

Sounds good Red. I'd have to see some pics of your set up ...

- let your air cooled reflector draw air from the tent, the inlet from the bottom of the tent letting air in. Prop the buckets on an air floor (equipment chapter of Weed Science).
- use a light mover instead of getting another ballast

did I mention how much I like that air hockey floor setup? its brilliant, I only wish I could figure out how to use it and Co2.

OP: hobbes has a great angle on the scrog idea.

"I only wish I could figure out how to use {the air floor} and Co2."

I've had some time to think about this ;)

Build 2 ventilation systems: a closed loop circulation system for the {CO2 chamber / air floor / grow cage}; and a second ventilation system for the air cooled reflector drawing air from outside the cage, or from another room, to cool the light. The CO2 rich air is constantly pumped in a circle through the continuous loop:

CO2 is added to air in a chamber under the air floor - CO2 rich air is drawn up through the air floor and through the canopy - the CO2 rich air from the grow chamber (above the air floor) is pumped through ducting down to the CO2 chamber below the air floor - this same CO2 rich air is drawn up through the air floor and through the canopy - .... .

The CO2 continuous loop will produce unbelievable results, I'm not using it now it because I'm developing a high yield outdoor vegetable system for refugees, CO2 won't be available or usable. Plus what the heck would I do with that much bud? I can barely give away the extra bud that I'm growing now, without drawing too much attention.

As well, the Air Floor ventilation system was designed to draw CO2 rich air from the living area, then feeding the living area O2 rich air from the grow cage. The plants are getting a constant supply of fresh {2x normal CO2} air across the stoma on the undersides of the leaves. This concentration won't match a CO2 system, but it produces amazing results in itself.

.

The area below the floor is made air tight with plastic, it's your CO2 enrichment chamber. Draw the air from above the plants, through a duct and vortex fan, and feed the air though ducting down to the CO2 chamber for a continuous loop and CO2 enrichment when needed. A passive chimney system can be opened and closed to vent excess heat.

I have thought about the double chamber idea too.. my thought was more of a room inside a room, with the inne room containing the plant(s) and the floor with the ceiling fan and the outer room is where the environment is controled. So the dehumidifier, A/C, filter, balasts, AND the Co2, then the adjusted air is sucked up from the floor (as you mentioned the coolest and most Co2 enriched) and pumped out the ceiling..

lol two angles on how to over think growing a silly (yet wonderful) tomatoe
;)
cheer for all the thought Hobbes!

and sorry for the hijack OP, maybe some rep as peace offering.. lol

Red for the first grow I recommend a non fertilized brand such as Pro Mix, Scotts, B'cuzz, etc. Your yield will still be very good and you avoid fertilizer burn, which is common damage for first time growers.

Do you have a PH pen? I went through your posts quickly and didn't see one mentioned. Be sure to measure PH after adding all of your nutrients.
