Pro Grow 180 or 260 for 2x2 tent?

I've been researching all my options on lighting, etc and due to heat reasons I think led lighting is my best option. I already ordered a secret jarden dr60 which is a 2x2x5.4' tent. I also ordered a 2' 4 bulb t5 system, I plan on vegging under the t5s and flowering under the led.

I am going to build a small veg box for the t5s so that I can dedicate the 2x2 tent to flowering 2-3 plants at a time. I want a veg box so I can veg clones for a few weeks prior to putting them outside (I live in socal so I can grow outdoors year round).

My question is which led system should I get, the pro grow 180 or the pro grow 260. There is only a $100 price difference so I'm wondering what y'all would do? Keep in mind this is only a 2x2 tent, thank in advance

honestly, for the price. I would get a gro blu. more watts for the money.

to bad you didn't build a XM-L2 veg light... would be far better then the T5, but more expensive.

If it's between those two, save the $100 and get the 180. It pulls 160W, should be enough/plenty.

If your budget is 300-400, I'd get a Hans panel and 4-8 CFL's instead though.

Or the new Area 51 light would rock that space(155w), or two of the hans panels. http://www.bonsaihero.com/ledgrow.html

I purchased a Pro-Grow 180 in the past and returned it within a week of receiving it.
It was woefully underpowered, the wattage numbers that they supply on the website are bogus.
I own other LED lights of the same "supposed" wattage and they blew the PG-180 away in terms of brightness/intensity.
There are much better lights out there for similar amounts of money.
For $399 (shipping included) you can get a California Lightworks SolarFlare 200W LED light.

Good luck.

Gro blu are rebranded Apollos from cidly. Their proprietary spectrum is redundant and whack. Don't wast your money. If you want an Apollo get an aquarium model. You can run more whites on those and they run for 208 plus shipping for an Apollo 8.

As for pro grow. Money would be better spent with better lights fr same cost. For a 2x2. I would go with a hans led (bonsai hero). 65 watts all cree. Or a vipar2x2 100 watts Will blow away a pro grow or Apollo. Pro grow has very loud fans. And does not hold up their warranty. Eventually you will modify it yourself.

More watts does not mean better. More umole/s per watt and distance is better. PAR.

I have a Pro Grow 180, happy with it but only for growing two plants on one side of that very same tent you are looking at. The other side has a bank of PLLs, and they seem to perform as well so far as the PG180 however. Right around the same wattage too so, yeah, PGs might be at the lower end of the offerings out there. They were pretty good back in early 2012, but they are lagging behind 2013 offerings it seems.

Basically, the PG180 (and probably the PG260) is really not good for 2x2 space. 1x2 is about it, imo.

Hey man I roughly have a 2x3 space and I have California light works 200w solarflare and love it. I would go with one of those. You can find them priced at 360 plus free shipping. Look at my current grow I'm on day 53 of flower and I just uploaded some new pics. Futhermore if you throw in a few cfls or even a small flouro panel it would help. Going to add that my next run. Good luck on your choice tho. Here is the link.

Don't buy from hydroponics hut, I can share with you a horrendous story of inconsistent products bearing different internal construction and different diode wavelengths from two of the same lights I ordered. They drop ship cheap products from multiple factories. I have video and picture documentation
