Pro grow warranty and repairs performance from hydroponicshut.com

This made me laugh, hard. Ben's a shithead. I haven't seen Epistar or Bridgelux chips in PG's. Wheres the proof? Trying to advance the industry....lol

It's hard taking you seriously too when your first post on RIU is a few paragraphs backing HH. Also considering the fact that HH filter their reviews on their website. Every review posted is only a review with nothing but positive things to say about HH. They're scared of posting some real feedback about their products. I think the whole companies just another joke reseller/redistributor.
Lol ok, go read my other posts. And I wasnt "backing" them. People asked questions so I tried to help by answering as I had some experience with their panels. They worked great IMO. Killer taste, smell, resin and for my FIRST ever grow I yielded 160g from 8 small plants under about ~250w LED. I felt pretty accomplished afterwards, and during the grow my plants looked and smelled dank! It wasn't anything amazing yield wise but I impressed veteran growers with the quality. I don't know what to say... I think the lights worked lol.

I'm starting up a grow with the PG550 and PG180. I should have things more dialed in so when I'm rockin and rollin I'll start a journal. I have no affiliation with the company but I love the paranoia.

I'm new to growing, the MMJ scene, and growing tech. I tried LEDs cause I have no way to vent lots of heat. That's it, these seemed affordable compared to the rest. I am not disappointed with the results. I know people do shady shit, but that's everywhere in every industry. Is it impossible to think that Chinese companies also lie to make profit? You tell me. I'm not into conspiracy theories.

Hi

I just thought I would share my experiences with you guys regarding the warranty and repair of my pro grow 550W panel from hydroponicshut.com.

About 2 months ago I noticed a surge or drop off of power to the light, I got in touch with Ben at hydrohut and waited without exaggeration about a month before I emailed him again with a more ratty attitude at which point he responded to me then.

I explained the problem and he said that I could either send it to his repair centre in the UK or I could replace the power supplies myself, knowing that nothing gets sent next day these days I decided to try to replace the power packs myself, Ben said they would arrive at mine within days, it took 16 days to arrive from Bath in Somerset, if you were in the UK you would realise how long that seems to have taken.

Upon opening the package there were no instructions (which Ben said would be included) as to which and where to replace, none of the power units were marked so how was I to know which was which, plus there were no wires attached to the new power packs.

I decided to use the wires from the old power packs and struggled to make them fit due to shortened length now. Fitted them all and turned her on to realise that she was lighting up wrong, this meant that I had guessed wrong, I had no other choice but to guess as there was no distinguishing features on any of the power units.

So I called Ben to complain that there were no instructions as were supposed to and that there were no wires with the new power supplies and that I had now tried in vain to fix the unit, I was told to send it to an address which was their UK based repairs centre, I sent it straight away with next day delivery, that was last week Monday. By wednesday I had not heard from Giles the UK based technician according to Ben in the States so emailed him, only on Friday did I get a response saying that I had sent it to the wrong address, ( Remember this is the address I got from Ben) so Giles had to send it on to the actual technician.

Fast forward a few days where I was waiting for a time frame on the fixing of my unit and still nothing, till Wednesday this week where I sent pissy emails to both Giles and Ben complaining of the lack of communication and sticking to their warranty policy of less than a week for small things like power supply replacements.

Yesterday after firing another email asking for a "whatthehell" is going on here and where is my panel I got a email saying here is a tracking number, your unit will be with you tomorrow.

I've tracked it and also called parcelforce to verify the postage and found out it is being sent 3 days delivery. This means it will get back to me on Tuesday the 20th of March and I sent it in on the 5th of March.

I wanted to share my experience of this with others who are constantly trying to weigh up which is the best brand of LED panel to go for, here are my thoughts..........

1. PRO GROW panels do the job, I have had just as good crops in a 4x4 with a 600hps as with my 550 LED.........EVEN WITHOUT THE CREE DIODES THEY LIED SO MUCH ABOUT, GIVE ME A BREAK, THEY DIDNT KNOW?? BEN IS LYING!!

2. That part of your warranty where they say they will "credit card cross ship" to cover panels sent off for repair...in an email from Ben he stated very clearly that he was never going to do that for an overseas customer, think about that before buying UK guys!!

3. The repair was so all over the place that it took much longer than it should have, they are not a very professional set up.

Overall I am happy with the growing performance of my unit, with or without cree but as for repairs and warranties with PRO GROW....BUYER BEWARE AND BE AWARE THAT ALL IS NOT AS IT SEEMS...

I am still waiting to get my unit back, before this whole debacle I was going to replace another grow rooms HID for the PRO GROW panels but now they can kiss my ass.

This is my experience with them, it may not be yours but it is important that you see all sides of the coin.

BUMP BUMP..........

Another day another problem with Hydroponicshut and their service level on my progrow 550. I finally recieved the " BRAND NEW "
unit today after waiting a month for it, of which 3 weeks was spent in transit by virtue of the cheapest option to ship by Benjamin.

I had to replace the plug to a UK one even though he and Anand at the UK base knew it was a UK customer, I reference this as it is what they advertise on their website. Once sorted I plugged it in and LOW AND BEHOLD the f**king thing had approx. 30% blues/whites working and about 80% reds working, I couldn't believe it, they had sent a "new" unit which was f**ked.

After speaking with Anand at the UK base who was dealing with this I EXPECT a new replacement unit that works asap and in the meantime he can argue with Ben over this.

For the sake of information about "progrow and Benjamin at hydroponicshut and my personal experience" in this thread I wanted to express what I am experiencing with them.

Simply put beware these guys, if others have had great experiences with them you are lucky, to any others who are considering buying their products please tread carefully and consider your options.

Imagine how this post would have read to all the people who happen to see it if HH/PG had jumped through hoops to make your situation right within a few days or even a week. No questions, no problems, no BS. Just made it right.

Customer service in general sucks but what really irks me is the after sale kind of brush off. It's like they know they already have your money so why bother? Screw that! This is your garden we're talkin about! The retailer and the manufacturer should be doing everything humanly possible to make it right. You sir have the patience of Job! I would have microwaved that mother and sent it back to where I bought it if they didn't honor a cross ship agreement. They lied and they didn't support me after taking my money. No amount of read the fine print double talk makes that right.

You hit the nail square on the head there Chazbolin, from the very begining they gave me the distinct impression that once they have your money they don't give a crap, coupled with the arrogance that their panels just can't be faulty.

BUMP BUMP

Another day another f***ing problem with progrow, today I was supposed to have been informed of my new panels arrival, after much effort to contact Anand Shaunak at UK hydrohut I have not been able to contact him. I contacted the USA branch and was told emphatically that my electricity supply and installation was the problem, they just don't seem to be able to accept responsibility for their crap products. I was also informed that when the new panel arrives it will not carry the standard 3 year warranty and that they will be washing their hands of me. I am supposedly causing them too much grief in addressing their problems.

Let this be a warning to all who consider hydroponicshut, their service is utter shit, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM EVER!!!

Another update, after speaking to a Kristin at Hydrohut USA today I was offered a full refund and was about to receive it when I got another email from her accusing me of threatening Anand here in the UK, and accused of threatening slander against the company as a whole. I never did any of the sort and anything I said was based on fact and truth.

This is what you get from this company folks, threats threats threats.

Hydroponicshut has never appealed to me. Some years ago while they were using crappy LEDs but claiming-CREE chips... and finally got sued with CREE company.
Last month, their Chinese supplier got bankruptcy, I am not expected the HH to offer a real warranty.
Most LED grow lamps come from the same companies in China but just resold under differenct brands. So if the quality is the same, I'd like to choose a better after-sales service from a reseller.

I sent a light back to them and received a refund right away. Sorry to hear about your negative experience with them.

It's ironic you say the manufacturer is bankrupt, the UK branch has a bold statement in red on their website stating they are out of stock on everything with long waiting periods, I wonder if there is a link in all of this?

Yesterday I was told emphatically by Kristin that in 6 thousand sales of their product I am the only one who has ever had problems or asked for a refund, yes she said it, no word of a lie!! Then she told me that on my account there is a note stating that in their opinion it is my electricity installation that is at fault. For the record I have 30amp sockets installed throughout the house, the power supply is bullet proof. I am glad that at least you got away without a scratch. I'm sure that I am in the minority with issues but they seem to not be able to accept their product can be faulty.

Hydroponics Hut guy is a huge POS scamming, spamming scum bag. All the warranty numbers are disconnected. His name is Benjamin Youmans his address is
1314 ARTHUR LN NW
ROCHESTER, MN 55901-2091
wicked dirt ball you will regret getting involved with him.

Stay away from Ben Youmans. Hydroponics Hut lights are garbage and Benjamin Youmans is an asshole. Ben threatened to call the local police when I objected to his policy for returning defective products. This was several years ago, and many negative comments have been offered here and in other forums, so I can't believe this jerk is still in business.
