problem with dvd player

hey guys i could use a little help i cant watch dvd's on my pc somthing about incription i was trying to use windows media player but no luck, it is a dvd player have no problem playing cd's and burning cd's just can't watch movies iv'e tried several dvd's none work any help would be great along with a link to download. i found a couple programs to buy but i would like a good free one if posible, i'm pretty bad at finding them though the last one i downloaded had a virus and i had to reformat :(

Try VLC media player, it is a freeware download and plays just about everything.

he may not need a 3rd party player but VLC seems to be the most forgiving and widely accepted player.
