Pros and Cons Of DWC?

I wouldn't want to go with a 600w as i already
got one and that will produce alot of heat.

Probably go with a 400w
and put it down to where it would
do side lighting.

The 600w would be shining above
and the 400 would be
vertical hanging down to middle
of the grow room to shine on
the open bud nodes eh.

I'm just looking to yield about a Qp to a half to a whole pound.
a 400w & 600w HID's for 4 plants is overkill. Just one will put out an enormous amount of heat as it is. 2 would roast your plants alive in that small room unless you have some incredibly efficient vent & cooling system setup.

Okay but as bigbad
said, 600 watts
won't be enough for
4 plants.

Maybe he was pointing out
how tall the plants would be.

I want 4 plants in a dwc grow,
but yield atleast a QP or above.

Yet i don't want 12 ft plants,
my limit is 5-6ft.

you misunderstood me. a 600 watt light is more than enough for 4 plants to produce a 1/4 pound. but with the same light you could get much more if you used say 8 or 16 smaller plants than 4 bigger plants with that light.

the point i was trying to make is the light is only going to make good hard buds from the top foot or so of the plant. it doesnt matter if the plant is 2' tall or 40 foot the top 1 foot is going to where the bulk of your harvest will come from.

1/4 pound?

You mean a qp per plant?

I don't know if i could buy a
dwc system to fit in my space
for 8 plants.

This sux people be growing 10 oz to 19 oz single plants.

How the hell do they do it.

I want to atleast get a pound from 4 plants.

Sum say longer veg = more yield

shorter veg = more yield.

less big plants = more yield

more small plants = more yield.

If i have 4 plants that grow up to 5ft-6ft
under a 600w hid with 8 cfls as side lighting
in dwcs in the space i mentioned.

What would i be looking at?

It's all confusing.

I have hardly read about anything near 10 oz indoor yields per plant, if thats what youre talkin about..

Just buy the equipment and start growing and get a feel for it.

Or use a chiller, haha.

Im using a chiller and teh yeast+sugar co2 and got some decent growth gains with my Swc, only about an inch or two of water.

how do you use a chiller if you are running a 6+ site dwc?
Ahh, just because I PURCHASED a 6 site doesnt mean they are all being filled.

I black taped over 4 spots and put in my two strongest that were chillin in wool.

The chiller is half of a liter bottle filled with ice cubes and covered by a top that light proofs the res.

but if your water is too hot that means your grow room is too hot and that means you need to fix your temp anyway.
i have to agree. heat, alone, has nothing really to do with algae. algae is a product of light. because algae has to photosythesize to grow. heat will give you bacteria but algae and bacteria are not the same thing.
