Hello, I have been reading for hours today and have learned A LOT. There is an endless amount of info in this forum.

BUT, i'm not clear on a few things. I'm planning on starting a grow operation when my new lease starts in june. I have a landlord, so my operation must be small and sneaky. I want to do this in a bedroom closet, and use 1 250W High pressure sodium light for my veg and bud cycle. I have read that the lights will penetrate about 18" of leaf, so i expect to grow my plants that big before i bud them. Can i grow them that tall with only 250W?

My other question is, how many plants can i support using only one 250W light? i'm looking at a 3'x3' area, that's what the description of the light says it will cover.

Also I'm trying to use the least amount of electricity possible. Do I absolutely need an exhaust fan for one light?

Any responses welcomed and appreciated!

In general you aim for 50w per square foot.

3x3 is 9 square feet.

maybe try 5 ladies with the 250 for optimum light use. maybe try out a scrog.

With a 250hps you can aprox. cover 5 square feet. gerneraly speaking.

Yes you will need a fan. At the very least for the filter you will hopefull use. But the ladies will love you if you add a small fan for circulation too. they love a breeze. not to mention makes em stronger, you can get your light closer, and help move stale air out.

hope it helps

So I should have one blowing out, and another fan blowing in on the ladies?

Can I just use exchange air with my bedroom if I have the window open? Sry if this doesn't make sense i'm baked lol

If your not worried about smell then yea you could prolly exchange the air by opening the door.....only durning the 12 hour light period.

Idealy you want a fan to draw out the hot stale air.

and yes a seperate fan to give the ladies a breeze and circulate oxgyn.

Are you planning on building or buying a growroom to keep in the closet, or solely planning on useing the closet as the GR?

I'm still working that out, i don't know how much space I have to work with yet.

I don't know yet what my temps should be, how i'm going to control them, or what kind of fan to use for air circulation.

I'm looking to save the most energy on electricity but definitely get adequate airflow.
