protection?

Hey guyz, i'm new to the forum, so if i ask stupid questions, sory:D

Well i wanted to ask a question...

I have a first grow place outside. I had quite a few plants growing but than what happened? Deer. They ate each and every plant i had, leaving just a few buds. It didnt happen ower night, but it is a resoult of a few months. First i tried an industrial repelent. But it didnt work. I tried peeing around the plants, putting hair around them, but nothing. What can i do for next year to prevent from happining again?
I was thinking of putting a fance arround the perrimitor where i war growing. Has anybody tried it? Does it help, and if, how tall should the fence be? should it be under electricity? Any other ideas or advice?

Sory for my bad English:D

You can use fishing line between fence posts around your plants to keep the deer out.. The deer can't see it and are startled when they walk into it. They also will not jump over anything that they can't see. It doesnt work with rabbits and other animals that will just dig up/eat your plants stem.
But yeah you should give it a try, its discreet so it wont attract people too, and the best part is it is veryy cheap

I recommend a Winchester model 70 .308 cal as the best solution for your problem and you get some steak in bonus

Scarecrow or go get some haloween motion gag toys, when the deer get close they scream etc and lights go off and they run for the hills will work with every little kritter out there. Simple and cheap. They also hate any type of flag but of course it has to be windy the motion sensors work best.

No it just has to be built solid about 4 ft.
4 feet? No deer live around you. Standing completely still one can spring over a 5' fence easy. Running start? Pot on the breakfast menu. If you find a way other than an 8' fence completely around it don't tell how you did it. Instead write a book and become a consultant for every city overrun by the critters. And be glad you don't have moose!!!

After numerous problems, I now have a 4' fence around my areas and I no longer have any issues. I never had a problem with deer and they better not start this year or I'll be camping in my grow with a hunting rifle!

I work as a pest controller, dont get many jobs for deer but if they have a liking for your plants they will come back. As Hotrodharley said a tall fence is the only way, a 4 foot is nothing to a buck or even a young deer. other wise You can use poison or shoot them. Your fence needs to be strong or they will knock it down if they want to.

If you can find their path you can set up a 'whip trap' take a nice piece of bamboo and rig it to a tree and bend it back rally far as if to slap someone walking down the trail then set up a trip line on the game trail which is connected to the bamboo that is brought back tight so when the line is tripped the bamboo comes flying and WHACK. they'll think twice about coming around next time.

I don't know how discrete you need to be but i've alway liked making boxes or rectangles out of PVC pipe and wrapped them in chicken wire whenever I start young trees or grapes or anything I don't want to get picked at by birds, deer, roddents etc... these work great

To add one more thing that I use in my garden every year and it keeps the deer away. those blue toilet bowl cleaners that hang inside your toilet as well as taking ivory soap and and just shredding it around the garden. haven't had deer since i started doing this
