Actually, congress took a weeks vacation from 7/4 - 7/10, before voting on the bill. Now they are saying they want to replace the democrat congressman (who passed away recently) before voting. Which will all be futile since they are having yet another vacation, this time lasting the whole month of August. If they don't pass it before then.... people will be pissed. Maybe that will be the fuel for a revolution this country so desperately needs.

most every economist agrees with you here. trying to reduce the deficit by cutting UI at a time of historic employment is, in their words (not mine, although i agree), INSANE.

I don't see Unemployment Insurance (UI) as welfare. It's insurance against being laid off. I realize that is a govt. subsidized and mandated insurance but it's one that I happen to agree with. I don't think it should be extended in perpetuity but it just seems assinine to extend, extend, extend, and now we have signs of the economy faltering again and we are gonna pull the plug? Why extend it in the first place if they are just gonna take it away before the jobs picture starts to improve? That seems like a waste of money to me.:-?

After eight years of Bush & Cheney treating America as their personal piggy bank, and cutting huge deals to fill the pockets of all their friends, the economy tanks in a big way. Somehow the fucking morons, instead of placing blame on the party responsible for this disaster, are actually so dim witted that they eagerly lap up the re-pube-lickins newest line of shit. The very fact that a sleazy money grubbing whore like Palin can get away with calling herself a champion of the little guy illustrates the unadulterated pure stupidity flowing through the veins of the teabaggers.

I was laid off last off a while back, not really because the company was suffering, but they decided to go in a new direction and hire hire dollar educated Idiot's, that knows nothing about the Industry and still have no clue what the hell there doing! In reality they are what is going to shut the door's of this perticular company!
I stayed on unemployment for 3 mos. Took a Hard Crappy job,,Would have been better off staying unemployed,,,but that get's boring after a while,,,ended nup quiting no more UI for me,,,FINE,,,Did Do what I have to do to get a job,,,DRIVE, In these time's you gotta do what you have to do to make money.
It tought me a lot being reliant on someone else for your well being, There are good way's to survive,,,sometimes you just have to scrafice what your used to in the end you might be pleasantly suprised to find out it's really not as bad as they say!

Seriously, the Republicans are amateurs compared to the democrats back door deals. The politics of the whitehouse come directly from the Chicago machine. I find your pointing at republicans to be laughable while Obama is racking up deficits of 10% of our GDP... The mantra "the republicans did it first" will not save America from financial ruin if the democrats do it on steroids...

And of course the rich dont suffer; I actually read an article on CNN about luxery spending and they've apparently gone from buying jewelry/clothing/cars on a whim to only buying big screen TVs for their backyard IF IT'S ON SALE LOL and one story in the article even talked about how a rich guy bought a huge outdoor (Stone? cant remember) pizza oven for $6000+ and quoted him talking about how it's for his health and whatnot. BS lol he probably uses it like once a month tops.... I'm actually going to see if I can find this article again. It was a joke.

No, it was the Democrats and their push for lower income people to be able to buy homes they could not afford.

It was a giant social experiment. Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae were FORCED by legislation to give out a certain number of low income home loans. To do this the congress had to regulate lower standards for verification of income etc.

Once that happened, EVERYBODY jumped in. And everybody seemed to think the house prices would go up forever. And then POP!!

But hey, have ya noticed that Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae who have lost the taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars never had to go before congress? And did ya notice that congress quietly gave them an unlimited get out of debt free card that they still keep taking from? And did ya notice that somehow in all this confusion Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae got COMPLETELY left out of the new financial regulatory legislation?

Wow, that is really a HUGE amount of coincidences huh?

I think the lesson here is that neither party gives a shit about the people. Republicans will obviously lay blame on the democrats, and perhaps rightfully so since they are the party in power. Democrats are still blaming Bush, and perhaps rightfully so since the Bush administration was in power for the previous 8 years. What I don't see is anybody owning responsibility for anything and apologizing to the American people and saying "We are going to get through this and make things right". Obama doesn't inspire confidence in very many folks these days and it speaks to the greater problem...........our politicians are acting like a bunch of drunken frat boys on spring break! They don't care what kind of damage they leave in their wake. They are only concerned with protecting their own liveliehoods and helping out their corporate cronies. The system is broken and only WE THE PEOPLE can fix this problem. We have one great power left and that's the power to vote. Get out there and vote out the incumbents. If nothing else, perhaps it will send a message to the powers that be that the people are fed up and not going to take it anymore! :cuss:

The one person I feel bed for is George Bush, he was a straight C studnet through college and he tried to shoot for the stars by running for prez, he probably didnt expect to get elected..... but the dumbass people in our country saw one of their own (an average student that is) and jumped at the chance to vote him in. Poor GWB was so in over his head, I feel really bad for him he shoulda just stayed in texas and watched rangers games as his checking account grew with the oil companies he is invested in.... That being aid I could start a whole other argument there that the whole Iraq war was about oil (and thus the 9/11 attacks were a huge gov. conspiracy just to attack irap in the first place)
