Puffy leaves.

Can someone tell me what is going on here.
In soil, mix of Bio Bizz Lite and All Mix, 250 watt HPS. Been super careful with watering, syringing it around the pot in a circle every 3 or 4 days. Never soaking the whole medium.
Two weeks old and new growth clawing and puffy. 21°c and around 50% humidity.

I rarely advise this, because overwatering is normally the problem, but in your case, you should be giving that plant a good drenching, then waiting until the pot gets light before watering again. Are you providing any nutes?

No nutes. Just letting the soil do its thing for a few weeks.

It's possible the seed just may be a runt/ugly duckling. Not necessary something you're doing wrong. This early in the game you usually have some stunting going on if not watered correctly, or the medium is too dense. Shouldn't have any toxicity/deficiency with bagged soil. Key word, shouldn't.

Agreed, that looks like a mutant and likely not worth the time.
I'd start another bean.

Start another one - keep this as a side plant.
She is a little runty right now but …. Sometimes they end up being a good plant at end.

Are you really throwing 250watts on this ? Looks like a plant that needs lighting. Those large single finger leaves will be used up over time. PLUS those temps you listed 21°c ( 69 degree ) is a bit cool … raise temps so plant can transpire and bump growth with warmer roots. Shoot for at least 80°

OK. Thanks for all the input. Soaked it through and gone up to 400 Watts. New seeds being planted but I'll persevere with this one and see what happens. Cheers.

Definitely keep it, young plants throw weird leaves sometimes, most of the time they grow out of it.

It's a small pot and your soil looks dry, so you can soak it. The new growth looks healthy.

Or pee on it
