Purple/Black Trichomes???

Hey everyone...quick question! I have pheno of The Flav and I'm currently at day 21 of flower and I started noticing black specs on the leaves right at the bud but nothing on the bud. It showed up literally overnight at about day 17 I think. At first I thought I had mold or fungus so I took immediate action even though it was already budding. I sprayed with a 5% bleach solution. Shit killed the pistils but I believe they will generate new one with the new calyxes. Anyway, fast forward a few days and the black dots still there I decided to take another look with the scope. Well this time they were a bit bigger, and not just looking like fungus spores or something. It's the trich heads...about 70-80% are black.

The guy I got the clone from never had this happen at all...he said the flowers are always a bright green. For the most part these flowers are green also until I sprayed them down, they suffered a bit but no purple in the bud. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think. Is something wrong, I've heard of colored trichs but considering the person I got the clone from not seeing this trait what's up??? Sorry for the bad pics...I could only get my cell phone to focus on the scope.

Man , Wtf ? I have never seen black trichromes. The craziest shit that has happened to me is currently happening , I have a 100% purple pheno and trichromes go from clear to semi purple to purple. No cloudy or amber. You sure there not dark purple?

Grow this shit out and document it. You said it happened before you sprayed 5% solution correct? Get some better pictures for us also. You stated this has never happened to your friend who gave you the cut so is it possible it an error on your part?

Correct it happened before I sprayed. I thought it was mold or botrytis and wanted to know it out quick so I didn't have to spray again after the buds got to big. I believe they are probably super dark purple because I clipped a leaf and rubbed it with alcohol q-tip and there was a hint of purple after rubbing it.

I have a similar problem, I guess you treat semi purple to full purple as you would treat cloudy to amber . ?

that is strange try looking at the triches from a side angle so you can have light behind them and see if they still look black maybe it has something to do with the angle youre looking at them

i get some on a blue cheese i run. (black ones) i've read varying information on it.
some say the trichs are dead or on the verge of it, some say it's light reflecting into the head, so sort of illusory. i've looked at all angles and they are always black tipped.

day 21 for that seems very early indeed. usually at least day50 when i notice them, though i do get the occasional loner in with the clear trichs, so it could possible be a dead one. Without proper science to show what's happening, it's easy to assume the worst.

They aren't really all over yet considering I'm only at day 22 but they are in the areas where trichs begin to show up.

ive had it on a plant that felt over and got knocked, on top. the trichs went dark and then the bud bruised. keep us updated to see if that bud keeps growing.

The consistancy of whats going on would lead me to believe its a genetic type deal and nothing more. Probably wouldn't worry about it too much, just let em finish and chalk it up as a new experience in the mental growing file.

Your rubbed the leafs with rubbing alcohol and your sprayed your plat with a bleach solution, I would say they are dead or discolored Trics. Lets us know what the trics on the new growth in a week or two look like. Might just be the plant/light/microscope.

the reason he sprayed them with bleach was BECAUSE of the black trichromes and the alcohol was on a clipped off leaf so it obviously isnt the reason they are black vx

Like I said Might just be the plant/light/microscope. I want to see what happens also..No Flame here.

Thanks for the emphasis Kermit! Some folks don't read before they talk! Anyway...I've never had mold/fungus before so I couldn't have been sure but they first check under the microscope they did not look like trichs yet. And I have heard the horror stories of mold/fungus outbreaks and wasn't willing to take a chance. They are doing ok and have new pistil growth already so I think they will make a full recovery from the bleach spray. I'm sure the yield and potency may be affected but only time will tell.
