Purple Punch LST 12/12 From Seed - discuss

My two Purple Punch seeds sprouted on 1/14/10 (They were planted in Rapid rooters). Since I haven't finished my closet I decided to just go 12/12 from seed.

I am using 4 Hydro Farm 24W T5 HO 6400k Bulbs. First time using T5's and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. They have done a great job so far. For flowering I am going to use my 600W HPS. I say for flowering because I have turned the lighting cycle to 18/6 since I just harvested.

My plants have sexed and I am left with one positively identified female and one possible male. I am doing a LST grow which might develop in to a SCROG later down the line depending how well she responds to being on 18/6 for her first time ever. I will not be mentioning the possible male until I'm sure.

She is growing in a blend of
60% Coco Fiber
20% Soil
15% Sand
2% Blood Meal
2% Bone Meal
1% Diatomaceous earth

During the first two weeks I sprayed the soil with a mixture of 1/4 Tsp. Molasses & 1/4 Tsp. Vitamin B1. Just to get the roots and microbial life a little boost.

I had an idea. Every time I see a clone it has the tips of the leaves trimmed. After reading up on it I have found out that doing so tells the plant to stop focusing on the leaves that were trimmed and to focus on root growth and growing new leaves. So following that train of thought I decided to trim the First set of leaves.
No idea if it did anything because this is my first time with these lights and doing a LST.

When I water I use 1 Tbsp. of molasses along with 1/2 Tsp. Cal Mag and if there are any going to be any signs of nitrogen deficiency i will add a little Bat Guano (4.5 water soluble) to the brew.

I am using large metal staples to hold her down and they have been working great. Slight bruising because I was being a little to forceful when I would re-set the staples.

All in all I am quite happy so far. She has responded better then I had hoped and she is proving to be quite bushy. She went on 18/6 on Feb(2)/24/10. I hope she responds well to going in to 18/6 since I would like to get her at least one foot taller.

Well that's all for now.

Pictures speak a thousand words and since I am always lacking in words here's a couple pictures.

dont put your fan blowing directly on your plants itll just make them grow slower point then in a nother direction the purpose of a pan is 1:to cool down your temp. 2: to ciculate the stagnent air 3: to transfer oxygen to recieve co2

I thought using a fan would help simulate wind and help her produce a nice thick and hearty stem? Its something I heard a long time ago never bothered to look into it since I thought it makes sense.

I appreciate the advice I will start researching and move the fan away.

Thank you.

im about to misspell alot of words im stoned.... you can use your fan as an isectiside and fugiside if you get gnats little flys point your fan at the soil thell leave they cant live being bombarded by wind to cure mold and fungas with the fan same thing point it at the soil itll dry it up that is if you dont overwater the soil

The fan has been moved so it is blowing against a wall and now she is dancing ever so slightly.
Thanks again for your advice.

I like to use Diatomaceous Earth as a pest control.
It works great and is natural no chemicals. Another bonus is the stuff is pure silica so I mix it in the soil. Also a little extra mixed in to the top 1/2 inch ensures that if any pest do try to burrow they are welcomed by razor blades. I use the powder form since I didn't know the name it was sold under for the stone version (silica stone).
So far it has kept my outside veggie garden pest free as well as my indoor. I have watched Fungus Gnats, White Flies, Spider Mites (fuckers are by far the hardest with DE alone) all die to DE.

i always keep a fan directly on my girls, oscillating of course. (several feet away, just enough for them to move)

i grew something similar to this recently.

mine was called grape punch tho. where did you get your seeds?

your leaves are much more uniform than mine were.

i stopped doing this strain because it kept herming on me.
i have a few more clones of this i'm going to throw into 12/12 soon.

but your ladies are looking good.

keep it up

Its from the Bay Area in California.
Got a few seeds from a friend that's close with the grower. Couldn't tell you the genetics just started them since I had them and I know the weed was good and I am aesthetically fascinated by purple cannabis.
The beautiful textures and tones...:weed:

I wish I was sure what made her grow so uniform. I think the 12/12 from seed might have had a big roll, but the T5's have been close as possible until recently. I moved them up in hopes that maybe a little stretching would occur since I am aiming for a larger LST.

i'm in the bay too....
i got clones from a local dispensary. well one clone, and turned it into a mom.

i wonder if the names somehow got confused.

i could see why someone would mistake grape punch for purple punch.

anyways, mine didnt come out purple. bright green, but stinky as hell.

potent indica too.

i think we got the same shit on our hands.

and you getting seeds from a local grower makes me believe that the hermie problem i was having isnt totally my fault. but i could be wrong.

cheers doggy. get a hps on that hoe. you will never go back.

I am not sure if it is in fact Purple Punch.
My friend has re-upped multiple times and each time its sold as Purple Punch.
The grower has also been supplying him with
Granddaddy Purple, Blue Dream, Grapefruit and some other one which name escapes me.
I didn't get a bunch of seeds I asked him if he had any and he went digging through the jar sine he found a few (I got 5 he had 2oz.).

He just re-upped and I am hoping that there will be a couple more gifts in the stash.

Is it just me or is this area just spoiled with the connoisseur class bud. I'm not from California just moved here and holy shit the weed here is unbelievable.

I thought I smoked some chronic then I came to the bay and found out all my life I was smoking schwag or kind schwag. I got a card went to the LPC back in the day and about shit myself. The clones to the edibles to the oils to the hash & kief oh shit im here to buy weed not just extracts. What do you mean since I spent over $20 I get to have a free Volcano bag? Wtf are you talking about.

Holy Shit I am stoned for the first time in my life!

Wait I have to drive home ?!?

[/End Tangent]

I got a 600w Lumitek just waiting to pet her in flower for good.

about the lumitek...NICE....

ya man i've been to different places around the world, and let me tell you. cali has the best weed in the world. hands down.

to be more specific, northern cali. no offense to the southern part of this beautiful state.

especially in the last 15 years, weed has seen a major improvement. you came at the right time. haha

Internet was acting funky for a while.
Ment to post this on 3/2/10

It is quite impressive this LST method.
The amount of dense vegetation in such a small space. I am running out of room to place my fan leaves. I am using garden staples to hold the branches down. Then I very carefully maneuver the fan leaves under the branches to try allow light penetration. I found using a wood shish-ka-bob stick works perfect. I like to rearrange the branches when ever they respond to the training. The fan leaves are a little more of a hassle to re arrange since there is very limited room in the pot. When I move the branches I try to get a good idea of where I can tuck the leaves under and go from there. Must say I love the bonsai aspects of taking care of the plant and dictating what grows where.

Last night I made her flowering tea.
I just receved General Hydroponics's General Organics Bio Thrive Grow, and Bloom for free so I decided to test the Grow out. This stuff is very pungent. I make it a point to not smell things and this stuff was able to smell it as soon as the bottle opened. Good thing every thing is mixed out doors.

Recipe was the following.

1 Tsp. General Organics Bio Thrive Grow
1 Tsp. Cal Mag
1 Tsp. Molasses
1 Tsp. FloraNectar Pineapple Rush
5 Tsp. Liquid Vermi Compost

All bubbled in 1 gallon de-chlorinated water for four hours.
Happy to say that the smell has gone away and is to the usual molasses sweetness. She happily drank four cups. I am not used to a medium that drains this quick. As soon as water makes contact with the top it is pouring out the bottom.
