qb288 broken wire stuck... connector tab broken

Long story, but I'm very unhappy with someone right now. Got a qb288 board back with a piece of copper wire stuck in one of the connectors, and the small push tab on the top of the connector is broken (but the metal piece under it that holds the wire is still there). Can anyone give me some advice on fixing this? I can't find anything that will fit and grab the wire. I can see it easily because the tab is gone. It's only on the one negative connector, but I'm afraid to run it with the wire piece stuck. If I can get it out of there is it ok to use the board with that little plastic tab gone from the connector (I'd use the other negative connector)?

I can try to get a pic. The solid copper wire that was powering the board broke off and there's a piece still stuck in the connector. I can't reach it with anything I have here to try to pull it out. The tab (that you push to release the wire) is broken off the connector. This is one of the negative connectors. Since there's two, can I just use the other one even with this piece stuck in there?

So can I just wire these two boards in series, and not use the connector that has the broken wire in it? Sorry for my last confusing post I'm heavily medicated lol

Not too sure about this but common sense says this could be an option if your worried about the connector:

Remove the offending connector and use the other ones, put some insulating electrical tape over the spot where the dodgy connector was.

Im also pretty sure that it would work fine with the wire inside but i wouldnt wanna max out wattage on a board like that.

I was thinking something like that, but will wait until the meds wear off to tackle it. Well first I'll take some more meds and then wait. I really don't want to have to replace the board unless I really have to. I'll try and see what happens

If its a hlg board id ask around the qb thread.

Try using a safety pin to poke into the softer copper and see if you can't pull it out enough to then maybe use tweezers?

All I can say though, is if it is small enough to where you can still stick a wire in it and have it hold sturdy, it's not an issue at all and just use it like that.

I'm not sure I could put another wire in that same connector. There's another negative connector though, and I'd only need to use one of them so I'll be trying the other and seeing how it goes. Also pricing some knock-off qbs just in case ha

Can't reach it with any tweezers I have. I've tried a couple things but it's in there snug. The missing plastic clip might have made it easier to get out. I'm not sure. I'll keep trying for a bit and if I can't get it out I'll just try the other connector

Mixing knockoffs and hlgs in parallel might be a bad idea, they are likely to have slightly different voltage which would mean an unbalanced load between boards. if your boards are hlg id go and ask in the qb thread or directly to hlg. they might be able to do something for you.

No if I'm going to get knock-offs I'll be getting a pair. Thanks for looking out though. I'll ask in that thread and see if anyone there has anything to say.

Yeah there's two sets off plus and minus, just flip it round and use the others.

I broke a tab off one of my boards so I soldered to the board. works

you can also try to remove the plastic cap.
then you can reach whats stuck in there from the back and put the cap back.
it didnt worked always for me, but 50/50, sometimes the cap sat too tight, was on KB288 boards, dunno if same connector.

just read again, the plastic clips is missing allready anyway, dont understand where is the problem then to press it backwards when you poke some in from the other side.

use the other ground.

I've had to do that with more than one poke in connector on strips in the past, when I broke the mini lever release. The little cover should pop off, and then the wire came out easily.
I then put a few drops of liquid electrical tape over the exposed connector, and used the opposite intact poke in.
Worked for me....

I use the permatex liquid tape on terminal strips etc. Gets messy if you arent careful with it. 2 thin coats does the trick
