QB96elite vs Q (301b) strip builds

I am just trying to learn and figure things out with LED as they are new to me. I’m trying to get a grasp on the differences in lights here.

The QB96elites have 96 301B or comparable diodes. For a 4x4 I think I would use 4 of them which would be 384 diodes.

The Q series strips have 301B diodes, if I were to build using these I would use 14 4ft strips which equal 1120 301b diodes. These would also be in a 4ft x 4ft fixture for max coverage.

The 4ft x 4ft fixture with 14 4ft strips and 1120 diodes should have more coverage than 15in x 11in of total lighting in the 4 QBs combined. Correct me if I’m wrong please.

As for penetration why would the Qb96elites have more penetration than the strips with 301b leds in them aside from the extra deep red?

And as far as wattage goes, I know it doesn’t always convert to the PPFD given; but why would I be able to run about 800 Watts with 4x Qb96elites for a total of 384 301b diodes when I can only run about 480w when using strips with a total of 1120 of the same 301b diodes ? Unless I can run the Q series strip lights at a much higher wattage? As per QB96elites they are taking 2w per each 301b LED. Does that mean on the Q series strip build with 1120 of the same diodes I can run them at 2240w (the same 2w each that Qb96elites consume) ? Please help me wrap my head around this before I rip my hair out lol

Check out ledgardeners website
Look at the 4ft Double row F strips. 288 lm561c diodes too.

Elite does NOT use LM301B. It used Mid power diodes. That's why it can be ran to 6000MA.
Afaik lm301b are midpowers. But youre right its not samsung, i want to say they are lumileds but cant quite remember.
Someone else told me they were 301b’s. I guess they aren’t. What LEDs are in these Qb96elites then ? I would love to know to do a direct comparison

Hey. Thanks. I was reading through that yesterday.

Is there any thread or does anyone have a link to DIY strip builds with par testing results by any chance ? That would help me a great deal

Hlg had some earlier qb96; strips light for clones. The were samsung midpowers. The new qb96; they havent made it public on the web but i believe i heard them say lumileds on GMLshow. more powerfull than samsungs, each led has 8 coils instead of 1(i assume only 1 in samsung, please correct me if im wrong) If i read their spectrum right the white light is 4000k/70 cri. And then some 630 and 660 nm monos, not sure which make, could be the same. Lumileds hortirange seems to handle heat well if i remember well, binned at 85°C.

My mind is strobing with the flash of LEDs. I ordered 4x96s just to compare to the LM301Bs. Now they have strips with them including 660nm... what is the world coming to?
