Quantum Board Canopy Height?

Hello all!

I’ve been using QBs for the better part of a couple years, occasionally upgrading to the newest diodes. I’ve always been super conservative with light heights, as I am with just about anything related to growing cannabis, to avoid any king of light burn. What I usually do, is dim them down to 50 percent and hang at 36” from seedlings. After the third node, I start gradually lowering until I’m at 50 percent and 24”, and leave it there for rest of veg. After flipping, I gradually increase the strength of the light while leaving them at 24” from canopy for the rest of the grow.

my newest fixture is a 480w with 3500k lm301H & Cree 660nm diodes. Am I being too conservative? What distance from the canopy have you guys had luck with, specifically in veg? Curious to see how my fellow growers are utilizing QB setups.

Cool topic I'm interested to see what people have to say. Sorry I don't have anything to add I only have one harvest under my belt using qb's and that was only having them under qb's in flower. Would be interested to see if anyone else just switches from t5 in veg to qb in flower and how they found it best to adjust them for the transition.

In veg, had tops literally 2-3 inches away from COBs. QBs realistically can be brought down to 12" easily. Just gotta make sure you watch for stress. Some strains love heavy heavy light.

I use a HLG QB260 V2 and never move the light. It’s attached to my 5.5 ft tent at the very top. I never decrease intensity just let the plants grow closer. By end of flower stretch they are usually around 19-24” away depending how hard I scrog.

Very interesting topic. I'm currently also trying to find the right height for my qb's. Unfortunately I do not have a PAR meter, therefore I'm very interested in other user experiences regarding the hanging height for different plant stages and also when running on lower wattage.
