[Question] 400w HPS w/ mogul base

If I have an HPS w/ mogul base (and I only have cables that have a plug on one end and a NORMAL base socket at the other):

How do I use the HPS? Is there a similar cable? What do I need to buy? How can I plug it in? No one has been able to answer this so far.

I'm assuming I need to buy a hood with a mogul socket, but where do I buy?

if its just a socket you need you can pick it up at any hardware store. as for a reflector i made one out of a piece of aluminum once. that is if you don't have a grow shop in town

Post a pic of what you do have.

You can get a cheap socket at 1000bulbs.com, As for a reflector, I would just buy one from a hydro shop online. I made one and it doesn't work as well. I used a aluminum plate that is used for the printing industry as a printing press plate.

These are what I'm using for CFLs (see pic). They are just normal socket to 3-prong plug (to plug into wall)


What I have for the HPS is just that.. I only have the HPS light haha.

Yeah, only the HPS bulb. So where do I go from here?


The switchable ballast... I can just screw the bulb into that then plug the whole thing into the wall, correct?

you can get every thing a hardware store if you do not have a gardening and lighting store near you.

Please explain.. I was told the HPS has to be "wired-in" by a hardware store associate. I can just purchase an HPS hood with a plug connected to it?
