Hello :)

I am going to be growing indoors In a closet, lol (Its a standard sorta coat closet. 6ft high; 40" deep and 30" wide. small i know) i will only be growing 1 plant at a time (I will be moving up to 2-4 plant's at a time when i get good at growing) will the space i have be enough for 1 plant? and is a 150W HPS light enough for 1-2 plants?

Thanks guys;-)

I grow a 39x39x78 tent. I have a 600 hps. 150s don't throw very deep.
You'll have a little over 8 sq ft, so to get the amount of light I have, you'd need a 400. I used to have a 400 in my tent, and it was just a little short of optimum. I grew some great buds, but yield was a bit short. Don't skimp on light. You'll be able to grow more, better, and tighter buds and that's always desirable. Of course, cooling will need to be addressed. I use a cool tube exhausted with a 6" blower fan. No filter cause I live 300 yards from my nearest neighbor.
Just my humble opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. Good Luck.

Thanks guys :)

Do you think it will be fine to grow without a grow tent/Box or should i make one?
If so what do you think i need to make one?

Thanks again :)

150w would be decent for 2 plants, but if you wanted 4 or two big plants the 400w would be much better for the area you have.

Yo :)

I was thinking about it and what im going to do is have a 5 (ft) grow box by (40" deep and 30" wide) with mylar on the sides and a single plant only with an adjustable HPS/MH light would 250W be enough to penetrate a 4 ft canopy or will i need a 400W. But wont the 400W be pushing it with heat and stuff???

Thanks

I agree with the others.

I use a 250w HPS in a space much smaller then yours.

You could certainly make good use of more light in a space that size, but there's nothing wrong with keeping it small if that's what you really want to do.

Definitely don't skimp on adequate air flow, no matter what wattage of light you use, an HPS of any size will turn a closet into an oven given enough time.

EDIT: You asked another question while I was typing:

You'll need adequate air flow for temperature control whether it's a 250 or a 400, and the two rigs will cost you nearly the same... so you might as well go 400.

And no, a 250 will not penetrate 4 feet... maybe two-three feet, but that's about it. With my 250, and my well dialed in, highly trained plants (topping, LST, SOG), very dense canopy grows, I have about 6 inches of prime growing penetration, and another 8 inches of lower quality buds under the top canopy, anything below that requires supplemental lighting for me.

Thanks guys! :)

OK ill go with the 400W HPS, Can i get a self contained 400W HPS and will a self-contained HPS light be alot hotter than a Separate ballast fixture also what to do about ventilation??

Much appreciated :)
