Question about LST

I'm a week and a half into veg and have just begun training my ladies by pulling them down with wire hooks between the second and third node, and it's working just as advertised - the side branches are starting to take off and the tops are pointing toward the light again. My question is whether I should do anything to corral the fan leaves, since some of them are still shading parts of the main stalk. I'm guessing that trimming them would be bad for the girls - should I tie them down as well or just let them be?

Thanks; this site is fantastic and has helped me so much. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice; I just did what you suggested. I'm a little worried, though - I know that the leaves' position won't hurt them in their respiration, but don't they need to get their share of light to help the growth of the plant?

yes, and they do. :p

here are some helpful phrases...

"it's a plant; it will grow if you let it"

"more plants die from too much care than from the lack of it"

"patience and potency are practically synonymous"

"when you think it's ready, wait a week"

happy growing :)

Thanks very much for the good suggestions. I've been fighting against over-worry and over-care the whole time! I feel like a first-time father who has to fight against overwhelming his baby with too much attention and too much protection :-). So far I've been able to resist overdoing it, but it sure ain't easy! Thanks again.
