Question about nodes +rep for any help!

This may be a really dumb question but I was wondering if tying the nodes/smaller branches on the main cola closer together would that create a larger, more dense cola? I know that colas are formed by the growth nodes on the stem and the thickness and density of a cola is partially dependant on the spacing between nodes, but some are far enough away from the branch that they may not connect rendering them smaller popcorn nugs. I dont plan on tying them tight to the branch, but rather loose so they have room to fill out a bit before connecting. I took some pictures of what im talking about below. Any help would be greatly appreciated and ill definitely give out +rep!

The first picture shows the smaller nodes/branches sticking out from the plant, the second picture shows them tied together..

I once twisted a plant in a full circle with LSTing it wen i first started growing. it werked out well.

it would make a larger cola, thats one way of lst training for a one main center cola. I like the idea

Haha thanks man, I am curious to see if anybody has done this.. LST is my jam I started using the technique three grows again and ill never go back. Thanks for the comment!

that is quite an idea. i am not sure if it would make a bigger bud, but would it make more bud this way. it seems like the opposite of what lst does, which is spreading out the canopy in order to catch as much of the light evenly as possible. by tying these branches to the stem you are putting the im the shade of the top of the main cola. i could be wrong its just a thought.

Well the branches I'm tying closer to the stem are already close theyre just far enough away not to fully connect it looks like.. I tied one of the plants up and light can penetrate all the way through the bush so I'm hoping by increasing the nodes per inch on the stem it will increase the colas overall size. I'm just worried that I've never heard of anybody doing this.. Thanks for the help man!

another though.. What if I keep them tied together for a week or so to let the branches set into their new positions then untie them to let them grow naturally? Again, I'd really appreciate any help from somebody who had grown using similar techniques!

maybe you could tie the small stems to the main stem and prune some of the bigger leaves to allow better light penetration.

I would keep tying the branches all the way up to week 2 of flower. if you do post pick or a journal,
im going to do it but you have a head start

ive noticed my under-buds growing up and assimilating into the main cola's bud, if you think that you could create this effect by tieing all the popcorns closer to the main cola..well..i like your angle homie. ^_^ thats interesting, i usually have to LST my plants for height restrictions, ive wondered if by doing this,(tieing them down,making the bud change direction and face the light)i exposed the "inner bud" to light it wouldnt normally get, because in my last grow it made the cola much bigger then the one that i didnt have to do it to.this time im using much better nutes and im having to LST almost all of my colas, to ME, it almost creates a "belly" on the cola and it really fills out in the same likeness. im def no expert, but i am an expert observer! i will be intrigued to see if this works!

I've thought about this myself. But I came to the conclusion that yeild wise it wouldn't make a difference. One big bud or a bunch of smaller ones? Seems to me that the yeild would be the same but noway of knowing unless u try. Interesed to see how it turns out.

Yup! That's what Ive done pretty much, I'm hoping it makes for a bigger, denser nug.

That's exactly what my though is, if colas are formed naturally by connecting bud sites together than putting bud sites that would never join up together, in theory, should make the colas larger and more dense than they would have been. I'll have some pics uploaded tonight, I lost my camera cable so I have to use my iPhone to take pics from now on. Major pain in my arse.

I'm not necessarily trying to get a higher yield, just a yield with only large dense nugs. I HATE popcorn nugs, trimming them is always a pain and most of the time the nugs are too small to really be worth the effort so hopefully I'll only have massive nugs to trim! I'm interested to see if I do yield slightly more though just because once they were tied together the plant opened up allowing light to penetrate much deeper. Thanks for the comment!

geting a higher yield to me wouldnt be my reason for doing this, the reason I like it would be that one plant takes up
less real estate and that means more plants! and thats were your going to get more yield.
