Question about perpetual harvest

Hi guys,
Until now i was used to grow from seed to harvest using the same grow box (switching light from mh to hps when i changed the photoperiod).
This was the easy choice when i started 2 years ago. Now i would change my "way of grow" in a perpetual harvest.
I understand that i need to divide my grow box in 2 sections. One for vegetative state and one for bloom state.
So the question is :
Is better to have a mother in the vegetative space to take clones from or is better to use the vegetative space to grow seeds and then put them in the bloom space when it's time to ?
When i say better obviusly i mean in terms of time and quantity of the final harvest.

Thanks and Peace

You would be better off getting a good strong mother to clone from. This way you would know the strain, get better results, and finishing times could be more accurate allowing a perpetual harvest with no timing issues.

Agreed. Most people hunt for good mothers, so they have a continuous source of clones. The advantage in growing clones is that it knocks a week off your vegging time, you know what you're getting, there are no surprises, it's always a female, flowering always takes the same amount of time.

If you find a mother you really really love, stick with it!

The only disadvantage I've heard about is that in time (after 1-2 years) the potency of the cuttings starts to drop and hermying chances rise.

when cloning nothing changes with the strain... it is an exact replica of the plant it came from. Personally I don't keep mothers in my set up. I take clones when they root you can either veg or flower them. good luck!!
