Question About Setting Up Grow Room

OK suppose a flowering room was 4' H X 4' W x 2' D; and you only wanted say 6 plants total flowering at a time.

There are 3 kinds of light available

8 x 42watt CFLs
4 x T-12 Daylight bulbs 4' single tube
1 x 50 watt Metal Halide (White light)

The plants would be in soil

what would someone reccomend

1. Obviously 6 pots, but how much soil per plant. 1 gallon per foot? 3 feet total height so 3 gallons per plant?

2. Which light or combination of lights (for optimal flowering?

Any suggestions

None of those lights are optimal for flowering although they can all be used for veg. Some people have success with CFLs but you will probably need more than 8 to get a decent yield with six pots and a different spectrum bulb for flowering. Three gallon pots will probably serve you well.

CFL's will work, but as little tommy said, you're going to need more of em. Eight 42-watters would be enough probly for 2-3 plants.

How about a combination of 2 T-12 4 ' Daylight bulbs running vertically up the sides 1 1/2 foot width on side wall, The cfls mounted in the upper corners (4) 2 on the back wall in the middle and two on the front wall in the middle. In that size space would that not be More than enough light for both penetration from the 50 watt MH, anf the daylight t-12s 30 watts and the 8 CFLS? will post drawing, but the persons room is 3 1/2' Wide X 1 1/2' Deep X 4' High I wil also post pics of a last grow she did using only 10 cfls.
