Question about shrooms and honey

Hi everyone, so I'm new to shrooms, never tried them. I'm hopefully successfully growing some now, they are in fruiting chamber = )

Question:
My brother was talking about putting shrooms in honey and the honey absorbs the good shit. He never had them that way before, but read about it in a magazine. Does anyone have any knowledge about this? How to do it, how long it takes, how do you dose it out?

Thanks!!!

never heard that the honey absorbs the psychoactive compounds, but I have used honey to preserve them.

Usually people use money just for the taste/preservation, but you could powder your mushrooms and boil them in honey to absorb the actives.

it is probably not a good idea to boil mushrooms if one wants to retain any of the effect.

Why not?
You the melting point of psilocin and psilocybin are both >175C and honey boils at ~70C
Not only that but they are in honey which will preserve there chemical compositions up to those temperatures.
Your telling me you have never made mushroom tea before?
Or psilly fruitpuch?

Trust me, 30 minutes of boiling even at temps 100C wont effect the potency.

Thanks for the replies so far, much appreciated...

So if I were to do it with the honey, even just to preserve them, would you dry them first or put them in fresh? Again, probably noob questions still a little ignorant on the mushroom front.

Well now, there is that - perhaps I am guilty of perpetuating a myth - I hate that.

However, I DO know that you really don't want to put fresh mushrooms in honey - that is asking for anerobic bacteria to form on a rather basic substrate - then again if you really like botulism then go right ahead.

I've put dried mushies in honey to make eating them tastier. I have no idea if it helps preserve them because they never lasted very long.
Most drugs can handle boiling for a short period. Even the opiates can take a brief swim in boiling water pretty well. You want to avoid it with esters but that's it. So if you did break a bond in psilocybin you'd be breaking the O-P bond and getting psilocin. And the phosphoric ester is a stronger bond than an acetyl ester. Although the phosphoric acid is a stronger acid and would start to catalyze the cleavage so the rate would get faster until it reached equilibrium.

There goes the duck with his scientific analysis again. I hope that it answers your questions punk. Now just eat your damn shrooms already. Shhiiiitttt.

shrooms in honey. should work. the collective i work with make a honey cannabis tincture, and its delicious. im sure it would enhance the flavor without any adverse effect, but i have never don this. i do make a shroom "tea" when i do shroom. my favorite way to trip, not as bad tasting, fast and hard hitting, and the come down isnt as drawn out. happy tripping!

Yea, sorry I meant dry shrooms canndo.

I was going to say something along those lines Mr.E.
Doesn't psilocin degrade faster than psilocybin into inactive compounds in the presence of oxygen?

Honey is a natural preservative, I just remember all those stories about the 3000 year old honey that was found and it still being good.

Ooohh... I like that idea, whiskey and tea, haha. I can't wait for these to be done to partake of my first shroom experience. I think I'm going to go with the honey idea - got some homemade honey, from my sister's bees! I'll have to look into how the tea works as well. My bro used to just make a pizza, haha.

i wouldnt boil them or anything like that even if its probably ok, why chance it...if your just trying to avoid taste its simple, break off however many caps (sounds like you grew em since you had the option to leave them wet so may as well take the best part) and take a cupcake paper drop the caps in...i did 9 small ones, only over a g but still did the trick real well being all caps, and then melt some chocolate and drizzle it over until they are all covered well and its a solid chocolate piece. you can eat em in 5 mins and the taste is gone.
