Question about stealth grow?

So here's the deal; this is my first grow, and I want to make sure everything goes right. This is the space I'm working with. (Ignore the power strip.)

I have two lights; one 75w and one 65w, for a total of 140w. The thing is I'm afraid to use them because they get really hot, really fast. Only after a few minutes my thermometer hit 110 degrees fahrenheit, being five inches away from the lights. So how far away should the lights be from the plant, and how much heat can it handle? Also, as you may be able to tell, ventilation is an entirely separate issue. Other than that hole that needs to be blocked off in order to conceal my lab, the only other air flow come from me opening and closing the tiny door several feet underneath the shelf. How badly will the plant suffer if deprived from air flow? And if/when the buds begin to grow, how will I cover up the smell?

Thanks for all the answers, I really appreciate it!

I'm setting up a grow in a closet which is fairly tall but not to wide and I am wondering about the venting as much as you. I would rather leave it out completely but I'm afraid the plants will suffer. Need some help

The one might be, but I'm pretty sure they're both incandescent.
Incandescent lights will not grow plants.
Pick up some CFLs 6500k for veg 2700k for flower.
Not having fresh c02 rich air, your plants will suffer greatly.
PC fans should work great, and either a homemade carbon scrubber or ONA gel or a combination of the two to get rid of the funkyness.

That being said, I see some serious potential from that little space.
Cheers.

TBS hit it on the head right here. You want CFL's dont go by the "equivalent" wattage, go by the actual wattage of the bulb. If your running just a few bulbs, a passive intake and a PC fan should do the trick to vent but you may want another to blow across the plants..

Ona gel should work for you, I am running it right now and have some STINKY OG in flower right now.

We are always here to help, let us know if we have issues..
