Question about using nutes

Hey guys this is my first grow and my plants are looking good. One is about 3 1/2 weeks old and the other one is about 3 weeks old. Last night I just gave them their first feeding. I used 1/4 strength of big bloom and grow big fox farm nutes and 3 ml of cal mag cause I'm using distilled water. But my question is, is since my plants don't take a whole gallon of water can I use 1/4 strength nutes I'm 1/2gallon of water and that be like 1/2 strength nutes in a full gallon of water? Does it work like that? And here's a couple pics of them. Thanks!

Nice plants BTW.
Since it's your first grow, just make sure you don't love them to death. You are using minimal nutes which is good. Now if you can keep yourself from overwatering, you'll be ahead of the game.
Why are you using distilled water? Have you tested your tap water and found it unsuitable?

Thanks!! I have hard water. I'm sure I could make it work but just thought it would be easier to just get distilled. I water usually every 3-4 days. But usually just checking by weight and when it's light I will water. I believe I tested the ppm of the tap and it was around 150 or so.

Would it be accurate to rephrase your question away from using the word 'strength', replacing it with something like 'amount of'?

If you use half the amount of nutes in half the amount of water, you get to the same strength.

How would 1/4 in a gallon be the same as the same amount being put into half as much water? It would be twice as strong, would it not?

Not the same amount being put into half as much water, that's not what I meant.
I think we are on the same lines, it's just I wouldn't have worded it that way.
The 'strength' should talk about the end result, as you just said now - being "twice as strong". You sort of had it mixed up with the measurement of the straight nutes.

can I use 1/4 strength nutes in 1/2gallon of water and that be like 1/2 strength nutes in a full gallon of water?
You can use 1/4 some set milliliters of nutes to half a gallon of water,
and that would be the same as using 1/2 that same set milliliters of nutes to a full gallon of water.
