Question for you Bubbleheads!

Hello all,

We built our bubble cloner 5 days ago and have a few questions for you guys. First is our ph, it went from 5.5 to 6.9 in less than 24 hours. Is this normal? We dont have roots yet, the clones have been in there for 6 days now. So does ph at this point really matter? Our rez holds about a gallon, and we put 3 drops of superthrive and 3ml of hygrozyme. We have been noticing algae forming in the rez, nothing green or anything just looks kinda slimy. The tub that its in is almost 100% light proof, and the temp is around 79f. We dont think the light is causing the slime. We've seen alot of bubble cloners online that were clear, and had healthy clones with roots. So whats the problem? Is the slime normal? Or harmful?

Thanks in advance everyone!:joint:

i'm very new to DWC, but the problem is probably with the water temp. You should change the solution, clean the tub, then shoot for a res temp of 65. Hope this helps!

If you put any rooting gel on your cuttings or in the res it will start to gather and causy a slimy layer. Mine took about 10 days to pop roots in regular tap water, cuttings dipped in gel, the remaining solution diluted into the tank. Good luck, post pics too.

bubble cloning really only needs water....
the plant should be able to draw on it's own reserves to start new root development...

i personally don't use any kind of additives
no root gels/powders/liquids
no nutes/boosters
no H2O2
...every time i do add something, there's a whole wheel barrel full of problems

just water and bubbles....
i've never had slime even with high temps...and my cloner is a clear gallon jug
never thought to PH it

Water begins to lose disolved oxygen at about 75. 65 is ok. I don't even check water temp but i know if my air temp at canopy is under 80, my water temp is well under 75.

Haiz buddy ;) I've got a Bubbleponics grow going as well. Our mini-bubbler never had any "slime" problems and we just used bottled water. With our big system we noticed some build-up, but with a body of standing water thats to be expected. Mineral salts from the water and whatnot have various effects on your rez. Our water temp is between 63-68 usually. If you find that you wanna try lower water temps, you can always freeze a bottle of water and throw it in yur rez to bring the temps down. I always thought temps above 70-75 for water especially under light led to evaporation which would lead to more rez maintenance etc. Just a thought. We just did a rez change on our big system and there was some slight build-up. It washed off easily, but it was tap water at that point as well. When we did it this time, we let it sit over night in a 6-gallon bucket with the lid cracked. The PPM levels dropped dramatically (365ppm total) even after 1/4 strength nutes ;) Obviously the less crap in the water the better it should perform. We rez change every 12-14 days. Some do it every 7 days. You can also try stirring your rez up when you check yur girlz everyday. Some particles in water need a little help dissolving so the extra aggrivation shouldnt hurt ya. Pics and stuff are in my journal. Hope this helps you in some way. Happy growing :D
