question on nutes

i see almost everything has a n-p-k number on it somewhere...one example is bat guano...most have high nitrogen but mexican has high phos number...also i looked on an organic potting soil bag that showed 0.5-0.15-0.5...is this ppm per bulk unit size? or by weight?...when a lot of different suppliments are added would you add each together in their respective collum and divide this into thier weight or mass to get your total n-p-k?do you mix and match by strain needs or personal preference?one final question...what is a good recipie to make my base soil without starting with miracle grow...peat moss is available locally and i saw pearlite...i havent seen coco coir but i think it may be available locally...i have bone meal and blood meal...fox farm is bulky and expensive to ship and miracle grow organic ic available locally but almost everyone says it is trash...i would like to mix my own from scratch and adjust it myself over a period of time...i have read subcools thread on soil but he starts with bags of bulk soil then adds his goodies...i just want to make my own bulk soil and add goodies to that...any help is greatly appreciatedbongsmilie

heres a list of what i use for soil

mine usually consists of my compost, which has a whole pile of coffee grounds and eggshells
worm castings
peatmoss
chicken poop
sand
perlite
vermiculite
organic store bought compost mix

then i throw in some extra nutes like kelp meal, bone meal, gypsum, alfalfa meal.

i use alot of stuff because i have alot of stuff, but i'm sure a mix of any of these things should work pretty well

i never measure things which i prolly should, i just eye it out and its never failed me :)
i have never used coco on mj but i use it all the time with other plants. bone meal and blood meal are great additives, i use them on lots of plants.

I use a good premium potting soil mixed with promix at a 50-50% ratio..and a basic 20-20-20 for veg.....
