When You first fill your res to the nute specs on the bottles and say im in week three or so and my ppms are supposed to be reading say 500 ppm's and then I check the res say a day or two later and my ppm's drop down to say 450 or 475 or just go lower than what there supposed to be reding am I supposed to add more nutes until I get the water back up to 500 ppm's and check water every day to see what plant are eating and balance out res with more food or just let it run low until next water change in one to two weeks . thanks for any advise

can anybody help answer my question please
Hi hun, i didn't really worry about ppm, or the ph, i used the aerogarden nutes, my tap water is about 7.5 to 8, once the nutes go in it goes down to 6, but my ph tester starts at 6, just go with the flow hun, there not that hard to grow.

A general rule of thumb is: a plant uses 99% water and 1% nutes from the solution. I would just top with phed water between res changes. Also instead of a scheduled res change try changing the res when the ppms drop to a certain level. (still I wouldnt go over 14 days) That way you are giving them just what they need. My 5 gal buckets with a single plant gets changed about every 8-10 days on average. Early veg more often. Later in flower less often. Depends on what the plant is using at the time. Hope this helps.

forgot to say the res, have a jug of water that u have mixed the nutes up in and just top it up as u go, u will need to do it daily once they go into flower but i think i only filled it once a week in veg, but the bigger they get the thirstier they get, so check every day. but i have only changed my res once, i'm pretty slack but its working so far for me, good luck
