Question to the pros

I am currently running 4 23w daylight (6500k) cfl 2 65w soft white (2700k) clfs in a small stealth grow space. The inside is painted a glossy white and has decent reflection. How long would you vets recommend vegging i want to hopefully get an ounce if possible. I have several fertilizers a 15-30-15 and a 20-20-20 and it is planted in miracle grow potting soil.
1. Is it probable i will get an ounce from the described set up
2. if so does anyone have any recommendations for vegg/ flowering times

It depends on how well your plants grow under those lights(you seem to have enough), and it would help to know a little more about the strain that you're growing. Sativa-dominant plants can stretch 3-4x after you switch to 12/12. Indica-dominant strains stretch about 100% or more. I don't know what your height restrictions are, but I would think a final height of 2-3ft will yield an ounce easily, possibly more. Again, it all depends on how well the plant does. If it's stretched and kind of lanky-looking, all bets are off. You want a plant that is bushy with tight node spacing. How many plants were you planning on growing?

I like to flip Sativa dominant strains when they are about 12-14" tall and they usually finish at 3-4ft. Indicas should go until they are about 18" and usually finish around 3ft. I like to go 24/0 for the first 3-4 weeks of veg for Sativas and 5-6 weeks for Indicas. Then I switch to 18/6 if they haven't already started to preflower. The 18/6 light schedule gets them to preflower. Never switch to 12/12 if you don't see preflowers. Even if you start from clone. It will make it more likely for your plant to hermie and could also result in lower yields. Final yield is highly dependent on strain, but an oz of dry buds per plant is a very realistic possibility for most indoor grows done properly.

Yeah, those will be pretty productive plants. From seed go 5-6 weeks under 24/0 with the lights 3-4" away. Then switch to 18/6 for a week or two to get the to preflower. Remove any males. Switch to 12/12 in another week or two when they are about 18" tall. Continue to look for males and hermies the first couple weeks of flower.

If you want to clone back do it as soon as you see the preflower while the plant is still in veg. Label it so that if the parent turns out to go hermie you can discard it.

Let's say you end up with a 3ft plant, do you still have room for the lights so they're not so close that your plants get burned?

At three feet no i would not have room the tallest i could really have them is 2"7 without my top lights touching the plants. At this point they would be about 2 or three inches from the tops of the plant

I would switch to 12/12 at 12", hopefully you'll end up with a 2 footer or slightly over.

With a 2 footer depending on strain you can expect at least a 1/2oz per plant. Since you have very little height to work with maybe you should look into other methods of growing to keep the height low but still get high yields.

Maybe scrog method in your case!

ahhhh, I didn't read that you had height restrictions! I thought your question was just in general how do you get an oz a plant. disregard my previous advice about growing to 18"!

3" from the top is perfect with fluorescents. Flip to 12/12 at 12-14" and you should finish with the max yield per plant given your height restrictions.

And, I agree with abomb, scrog (screen of green) might be worth looking into.

What is scrog, is there a guide or forum for this method? I have never heard of it but i am a noob so that does not really suprise me

The idea is to train your plant to grow horizontally along the screen so all or most budsites get equal light coverage. Haven't tried it myself, but I'd like to give it a shot at some point.

Thanks that looks promising i cant wait to read a bit more on it but that looks like something that will def increase the yeild in my small grow space thanks for the advice!
