Questions About My First Grow

Hi, so I have a few questions before starting my first grow. Any help is appreciated more than you think!

Some background: I live in Ontario, Canada and currently the weather is between 55*f (day) - 40*f (night). I have 7 feminized seeds (Pure Kush strain). I chose this strain because it is supposed to be a quick grower with large yield. I will be planting outdoors, in a forest area.

My first question: When should I plant? I want to plant as soon as possible so that early October frost does not kill my crop, but not too soon where the cold will kill or slow down my fragile seedling.

Secondly: What medium to use? I want to plant directly into soil and mix a few bags of manure/compost from the store into it (for nutrients), but I am unsure as to how exactly to do this. Do I just pour the store-bought soil over the dirt or mix it in? I also bought some fertilizer sticks which have a balanced NPK ratio from dollar store, which I have no idea how to use. Do I stick it into the soil? When should I use this?

Thirdly, How many plants to grow? I understand this is a matter of personal preference, but I need to have the best risk/reward ratio. I think I will plant all 7, and assuming half of them die, I will still have a decent yield.

Fourthly, Realistically, what can I expect? You guys hate this question. I know. On the seed info, it said it has a 700g yield per-plant. I am thinking all-in-all, I'll get a pound or so in total. Should I expect this "project" to be a failure, and any reward to be a bonus in the learning process? Will I get in trouble from the authorities if they find me at the site?

Thanks! :bigjoint:

If you have any bagseed laying around, I would pop a few of those a couple of weeks before your good strains. It will let you kill a few without costing yourself any money or lost time.

As to when to plant, today and tomorrow are good above ground planting days going by the moon signs. I use this site all the time.

Also you need to know your length of day. It is already over 14 hours where you are, so you are good to go outside as soon as the weather will let you. But here is the link for LOD and other good info. When you plant in the spring has no effect on when the plants will flower. The LOD in the fall will determine that.

I mix my own soil, but that is not for everyone. I use 5 gallons of mushroom compost, 5 gallons of chicken manure compost, 5 gallons of cow manure compost, 5 gallons of cotton compost, 5 gallons of peat moss, 5 gallons of good potting soil, 5 gallons of cheap potting soil. Added to that is 20 cups {used} coffee grounds, 4 cups lime, 4 cups Epson Salts, 4 cups perlite, 4 cups vermiculite, 4 cups blood meal, 4 cups bone meal. Sure there is some things I can't think of right now. Dig your holes wider than deep, and put at least 5-25 gallons of soil for each hole. The bigger the better as far as growing big plants are concerned.

How many to grow. Since you are growing fem seeds, you don't have to worry about planting enough to weed out the males. But you still have to plan for deer, rabbits and all sorts of other varmints to like your plants as much as you do. Don't drop 7 seeds and expect to harvest 7 fully budded plants. In the bush it just doesn't happen like that.

How much will you yield? About a pound.

Good luck.

Thank you so much!!! Unfortunately I don't have access to most of the soil materials you mentioned, so i'll have to use a mix of store-bought soil, but useful nonetheless. Even if I end up with just ONE plant I will consider it a success! Thanks for your answers :D

Is it because of where you live or financial reasons you can't get decent soil and food ......I take it your not in the states ......if you have $$ why don't you order some stuff off the internet .....piss poor planning usually reflects in the end with piss poor results .....
