Questions About The Pot Choppers

If I were in the same situation.. ;) I would focus on making monster plants that you can hide grow 15 females and LST them to get rid of that christmas tree look and to keep a low profile. If you get good soil and water to them all you can bet on 6oz plants. That will be 90oz and should be plenty for a year of hardcore smoking. Don't be a douche and grow for profit it's just not worth it. For me life of seeing my family/girlfriends/pets camping hunting swimming etc. is a hell of alot better than staring at cinder blocks for 10 years.

The money you save from not buying smoke should be saved or invested... This is a much better way to get rich if you save 2 grand at 21years old and slowly add to it you will be well off. Put as much passion into your career as you would growing, the laws blow but sometimes you just have to be humble.

Seriously.....I live in central florida in the middle of swamps and right next to the withlacoochee river. I wouldn't even think about 300 plants. I'd be SOOOOO paranoid.

Shit, I'm nervous as hell right now because I'm in my college library high as hell and I'm on this website. ;D

dont grow in the field...u will be found. im in socal and the choppers are running all the time during the season. they find a lot of plants. never been found out but have known people that have. BAD NEWS! DONT be so anxious to grow hundreds of plants, outside if u grow correctly u can harves pounds of high quality grass from 2 or 3 plants. during the season i plant 3 to 4 female clones. i do this in may so they have plenty of time to vedge. plant ur babies along some tree lines or oppotune spots on the southside of sunny hills. i planted 3 jack herer clones last may and harvested over 7 pounds all together. getting busted is no joke. be careful dude

Man you have all these people telling you to scale down for a reason. WE have nothing to gain from telling you this except keeping one more decent person out of prison. We also all know how tempting it is to grow 150 lbs of top notch shit. We've all been tempted by that dream, but please have a listen when we're telling you that you shouldn't.

Grow 40 high quality, monster females, rather than 150 decent ones. The yield will still be ridiculous and the quality will be amazing. Hell, if it went really well you could still end up with 80 lbs.

Plus, you seem to think that just growing a bit off of your property completely covers your ass; it most certainly does not. It's a step in the right direction, yea, but it does not by any means keep you from getting in trouble. Especially since you're growing very nearby, but technically not on your property. It's not exactly like the guerrilla growing that BDW and many others do...

i have taken everything you guys have said and thought about it

it its so tempting to grow 200 plants when i could move that much weight however the jail time doesnt look very tempting. However im still not sure how they could catch me i go out with gloves and a ski mask with each of the kids and its not on my proprety however im sure they have a way of linking it to me.

I am however cutting back down to 40 plants with each person. have about 10 plots of 8 plants and make them monsters however there not all feminized so i dont want to end up with only like 20 plants a person after removing the males

You can get caught pretty easily. If they find a crop THAT huge, they might not tear it down right away. They might set up camp and wait for you to come do some groundskeeping.

That could be when they pounce.

Or the cops could claim they're investigating something, and came by your house while you were out looking to ask you some questions about something. And when you come back, they're gonna want to know why you (and two of your friends) are dressed like like mercenaries, and reek of weed.

The cops aren't near as stupid as people think, and they'll fuck you 3 ways to Sunday to bust an operation that big.

I think I have a couple of times. I used to live in a place in Texas that was fairly remote, and pretty much all of the poor people grew weed outside (probably because they can't afford all the indoor equipment) for extra money.

Every now and then you'd get some low flying choppers coming around. I dunno if they were busting weed, it was never really on the news. But you'd always hear stories from people about getting busted. Plus, this is close-ish to Fort Hood, so hearing a chopper was fairly common.

The best I can give you is I think I've seen choppers busting people, the odds are good, but I can't be 100% sure.

dear lord you people are missing the point of the helo's, im up in the same general area as you, the helo's will find you, they will stake out the area on the ground, they will watch and log who goes in the area, they will investigate, and you will be arrested, in my city we get at least 2-4 busts each summer, i love growing in the woods, where nobody goes, where trees block alot of the heat signatures and never in open areas or more than 3 plants to a space, 300 plants is ridiculous 100 plants is no better, especially in upstate NY you gotta be kiddin me, they fly there more than anywhere in the northeast, if i cant discourage you from growing a huge number of plants let me at least give you info on what you're up against

1st, the police choppers are equipped with FLIR (forward looking Infrared) and other thermal sensors, they scan the woods and fields, and often along river banks for heat signatures that seem out of place(cedar trees match closest to marijuana) if they see anything that looks out of the norm they send ground units to check if they find weed and no one taking care of it, they leave it and monitor the area, if they see you enter the area they call the chopper in, the chopper flies at a distance where it can see you, but you wont hear it, they will tape you watering/tending to the plants, that is ow evidence, the ground units will move in....and if you try to run, the helo will follow you and getting away is near impossible, if you think this is all barely a risk and you can get away with it, more power to you, i wouldn't risk it, because the charges you'll get will be the real killer, federal jail sucks, and nobody wants to be with the worst rapists and murderers over growing pot.

good luck bro

i thought the FLIR system was to spot the heat from growlights....while im not in favor of growing hundreds of plants, i didnt think that that infared would catch u outside...can u explain more about this cuz i grow outside in socal sometimes...only a few big ladies, but i would be interested in making my gardens safer. any words of advice would be appreciated. once again thanks to all of the informed people posting on this site. every harvest i have gets bigger and safer with help from u guys.:blsmoke:

Most courts have deemed that using IR to look for indoor grows is unconstitutional. It is an invasion of privacy. They are essentially looking in your house without a warrant. They might use it to mark you and then begin to build a solid case. They will not come knocking on your door uless they know damn sure they will be walking out with you in cuffs and a bunch of plants.
Outside, is outside, so they don't need warrants because of the Clear Plain View clause. Marijuana retains heat, or at least retains it differently than other plants. SO when they find outdoor plants, thay chop them or do what the previous poster stated. They wait patiently until they have a solid case against you and then wham-o!:joint:

WOW:-| i didnt know pot plants retained heat like that.....good to know for my next outdoor grow. i have a question now tho...getting a little paranoid (just spoked a fat spliff tho:joint:) i grow off my property (about 10 miles away) i have a buddy who hooks up a few clones for cheap so every outdoor season i grab a few girls and go to work.. iv gotten pretty creative in terms of hiding my plants. they are all hidden in various ways but they all get full sunlight..most of the time i use the colors of the backscape to hide them from view. (as well as tiedowns and creative pruning) i just wanted to know how easy it would be for a chopper to spot one my lone plants? usually they are about 5-9 ft tall (depending on what im growin) ...is this big enough for the choppers to detect easily? iv only done 3 outdoor seasons sofar. i havent been detected (by the pigs or bud theives) yet...knock on wood...but if my plants can easily be seen i might change my gameplan...

as always any help is greatly appreciated

I really wouldn't worry about it. They look for plants in a group together... a lone plant wouldn't show up as much. Plus, if it's just a few plants then at worst they'll chop it down (if they even bother). If it's a bigger grow (50+ plants...and probably more like 100+ depending on where you are), then they'll put in the effort to catch you. Actually catching you takes a good bit of resources (time and money), so they're not going to bother for 10 plants, ya know?

It's well off your property, only a few plants, they're hidden well, and you haven't been messed with yet...I highly doubt you'll have any issues.

Why would marijuana hold more infrared heat than any other plant? That makes no sense at all to me. :?
Just like every type of light has a specific spectrum, every plant has a specific IR scan similar to a fingerprint. Unfortunatley for us, science has been able to produce a device with the sensitivity to pick up slight differences between plants. If you think about it, what plant has buds like sweet mary jane? Most plants flowers and fruit are not green and densely compacted. The green part is important because even the flowers of marijuana are capable of carrying out photosynthesis, hence energy, hence heat. The dense compaction is important because density=heat retention.:joint:

Hey Ripitgreg Look at arrest stats for NYS (upstate is where they are getting everyone) - if you put 300 plants in a field YOU WILL get caught, no doubt. Theyre not gonna get you with IR (NYS police or the local yahoo's dont have IR equipment to even come close to detection) Theyre gonna get you by sheer color signiture and i'd bet my life some hunter, hiker or busybody gonna stuble on to your field. Upstate NY has become a big time grow area and the law knows it and they are all over it. I posted in another discussion how an old friend of mine got caught in Delaware County- not good, doing a dime in Danamora. If you gonna grow outside, spread them out, DONT clear fields, and keep you mouth shut. Someone WILL give you up for a deal, happens everyday- the key is dont give anyone anything to give you up for. As you may or may not know, in NY for the kind of grow your looking at, if caught your looking at 1-15, and if its 300 plants, you'll do at least 10, probilly get out in 5 if your good. As far as IR goes, look at my post in the FLIR topic- IR is way overated, not as effective as people think it is. This is a good read on the technology, give you an insite to its capabillities

Hey Ripitgreg

I reread your post- you say you trust your friends??? Do you trust them enough to do 10 for you instead of giving you up for a deal?? TRUST NO ONE when it comes to the weight and size of grow your talking about. This is the kind of grow that gets the state troopers hard. If one of your good friends gets pinched, i really doubt he gonna stand up and take the whole can of shit, when he can deal and do 2 or 3. Just my opinion, they're you friends, but if i was doing a grow this large, i wouldnt even tell my wife, brother or god himself!!!!

Personally, I'd be as concerned about your buddies as the choppers. With penalties as stiff as they are, all it would take would be one of your buds turning state's evidence on you. You're planning on processing in your barn? That would make you the prime target. IMO you'd be way better off without them and with only a few plants. Let them grow their own plots somewhere else. I'd look into the state & federal penalties and plan the grow accordingly if it were I in your spot.

Think about what that other guy said about the problems of moving big loads of weed. Sounds to me like he knows what he's talking about. Huge piles can tempt, but one reality of any dealing endeavor is that you are limited by your distribution network more than by your potential source of supply.

It's been many years, but I remember the stress of having too much stuff under my roof. Seems that right when my harvest was ready so was everyone else's. That wasn't pleasant.

I also remember one of my buddies getting ripped off on a big deal because he got out of his league. Took him a year or so to recover from the damage of that and he didn't even get busted.

I knew another guy who got busted in his pot patch. The cops had a real hard on for him. Not only did he wind up doing a year in jail, they seized ALL of his family's property under the RICO laws.
