Dwc is simple but very effective way of growing with amazing results. Water/nute changes weekly and keeping the temps in the buckets around 65 deg should do the trick for you. Invest in a bottle of aquashield or pondzyme to add some bennies in there cuz they gonna need it. Provide plenty of oxygen to the root zone in your buckets. You can get yourself one of those pumps from petsmart with the 4 outlet just to start.Read up on hisenburg tea for some great info.

Happy growing

My last grow I flushed 3 times during 3.5 months. The books say to do a flush every 2 weeks. I usually flush once after veg growth, once half way thru flowering, then a week before harvest. Between these flushes I add water with weekly-appropriate ppm and pH so the buckets are full. Instead of adding the recommended tsp/gal, I stick to my ppm schedule but use the ratio of 3-part mix based on the nute schedule.

My flushing pattern is much closer to Mr. Nuggets' system. I have had no problems. All my buckets are taped completely with black Gorilla Tape on every surface. No light penetration into the res. Additionally I ensure for damned sure that NO organic materials end up in the drink. I add H2O2 weekly, others use pondzyme or other beneficials. I do NOT use air stones. They are slime magnets and unneeded. Add a non-reactive weight to the ends of your lines to hold them at the bottom or near it. You can hardly go too big on air pumps and you certainly can go too small. Keep that in mind.

Hotrod was that you that said put a stainless screw in the end of hose that would weight it down, turn the screw for air adjustment? My other question is my buckets are light tight black, would it be a good idea to spray them white or something reflective. What strength H2o2 do you run. Thanks Peace.

I disregard the change every week rule also..I only change when I think it needs it(look/smell).not sure where you are from but heat seems to be the biggest problem with dwc( your res and nutes).air pumps are cheap don't under do it,I prefer stones but sounds like it works both ways..my water always seems to be cool enough to avoid slime issues but I still use h202 at about 1/2 tsp per gallon just to be safe.
I believe I'm a rookie compared to most here but have had some great grows with dwc.the biggest thing for me was not to over think everything.
Good luck and have some fun!

Do you mean control the amount of air flow through the hose? Why would you want to do that? I can understand diverting or cutting air but why reduce the amount?

I believe what Hotrod said was in reference to an inline valve with a plastic screw that you can tighten to interrupt the air flow. Actually now that I think about it, I have used screws as stops in air line and I noticed that if the screw wasn't tight, air would leak. Not sure why youd want to do that though.

FYI, a tip: I stopped wasting money on airstones. A section of 1/2 tubing, plug the ends, make a shit load of holes with a thumb tack, stick a 1/4" barbed coupling in and connect your air hose to that. Works better than anything I have tried. You can weight it down by filling it with gravel, sand or suction cups.

Ok Thanks everybody i been reading up and i understand much more rather not want to put in my own words yet want to have knowledge.
