Questions!! Should I transplant? / diagnosis(pics)

my first grow (closet), is going okay. I' ve posted on these forums before but now I am asking you people another set of qestions.

how many set of true leaves do these babes have, and do you guys think its a good idea to transplant to a bigger pot or maybe a 1 gallon bucket. Should I also start feeding them nutes? and which do you guys prefer. I know im asking a lot but I want to do this right

they look healthy plants, a this stage i transplant straight to 2 gallon buckets and that's there final home, iv had no problem, don't feed to much when small, you will do more harm than good. If u clip the top new shoots off now your plant will become short and bushy and more yeild, but don't go clip crazy,.

You have 3 sets of true leaves, if you closet can take 5gallon buckets, use them, if not use 3gallon. Transplant now (bigger container means bigger plants) Start feeding at week 3 (use a rootstimulator to help plant grow root, this will increase your yields by at least 30% or more. What kind of nutrients are you going to use? Remember to start feeding ; use at reduced rates and increase slowly.

I have some plant food that's NPK is 12-6-8 for my veg stage. Im going to transplant today.. I measured and checked and 2 5 gallon buckets can fit so I probably will use them. The only scenario now is the lighting. I know I'm going to have to get more light soon but as for now do you guys know the standard amount of lumens/sq.ft, or watts/sq.ft

There is no single answer to that question. Basically, the more light output you can get the better your yield will be. You just need to know your other constraints (electricity costs, space available, adequate aeration etc.etc. the more light the more heat will be produced. How much u want to spend? blah blah there are many variables.

I'm no expert grower but a 250W HPS system has served me well for some years now. It was fairly cheap to obtain and the running costs are acceptable.

So let us know what u decide about lighting

ya i thnk deff those guys are ready to be potted up it dont even look as though you have the red cups filled up all the way they are ready for some space and if your only doin 2 plants then i agree that a 250 watt hps will serve very well but lighting is a preference thing and constraint thing but goood luck to ya the grow

If you do transplant make sure you use a better medium than that, woodchips.

I'm using miracle gro for my medium .. When the soil dries up it tends to look like that .. Never looks like that when it is moist , but I was thinkin an organic mix .

I had 23 W CFL bulbs @5000k hanging about 3 inches above the plants . I was thinking about sticking to CFL's for this closet grow but I will do some research about the HPS lights. Thanks again.. Il post pics of transplanted plants later today

What kind of Miracl-Gro?? MG must have spent their advertising dollars wisely, because lots of folks keep coming on here with their plants in MG. The Miracl-Gro Time Release stuff is terrible. Some of their products are OK. I don't think any of their mixes are considered top-notch by the experienced growers on RIU.

Aye, MG on it's own is pretty crappy. It sells because it's usually the cheapest and new growers run out to get soil when they realize the dirt in their yard isn't cutting it. If you do use it, go organic and use the gardening soil (not an all-pupose mix) so you can control the feeding by adding your own nutes. MG organic is enough to support a seedling for a few weeks but beyond that, it may as well be soiless. Are you going to feed or use a time release fert in the soil? .Also, MG tends to hold water really well so make sure you add some perlite or some other draining catalyst.
