You dont need to keep the light on right after you plant it, but starting day 3 Id turn it on. Thats usually the earliest it will break the soil.

Yeah start with 18/6. Once my seeds busted I ran a 18/6 light schedule for 5 weeks and then started to flower. I only vegged for 5 weeks because I have limited space, most recomend vegging for 8 weeks.

why change things? lol, thats what we as humans do my man, we've been doing everything we can to get the natural world more suitable to our needs and changing nature to our needs as humans. in nature plants are exposed to lots of pests and temp changes and too much rain(water) or not enough or are pollinated...well, you get my point. that doesnt mean we should replicate all those conditions just cuz they are in nature, does it? 24/0 is the only thing i'd recommend with cfls. it keeps stretching to a minimum which is crucial for cfl plants if you dont like stretched fluffy buds. and in alaska and around that area they get 24 hours of light outside naturally and they do great, I'll see if i cant find the guys grow journal from alaska involving 24/0 outside. darkness is not needed.

18/6 is fine and u can veg for as long as u want. if u have limited space try low stress training. I've got a limited amount of space so im currently on my first low stress training grow and i must say its comin along real good i suggest it to anyone with limited space!!!
