Quick question about yield

Ok, so this is my first grow..

Ive got 5 plants set to flower under a 150w red spectrum CFL..

Im just wondering what a typical yield is off each plant growing with CFLs

Also i understand you lose a lot of weight when drying them out so really i just want a basic idea of how much dried out weight ill get off each plant. ie an ounce? - maybe more?

A lot of what you get will depend on what strain(s) you are growing. There is no singular answer to your question.

Did you purchase your beans from a seedbank? If so the description(s) should give you a possible yield but keep in mind those are normally for a 600-watt HID setup growing a SOG and some use hydro too for their yield predictions.

I wouldn’t venture a guess but with a 150-watt CFL I wouldn’t set my expectations very high if I were you.

I’ve never grown Big Bang but I have heard and read that it can be a heavy producer so you might get lucky with that one.

Yeah i hope so... ive got 2 white widows and 3 big bang in my wardrobe.

The big bang were put in after 4wks vegging and it bn about 10 days now and still no sign of flowering - the white widows on the other hand got 8wks veg and they are starting to flower now.

To be honest i was just glad that they were girls!!!

Whats the script with the feminised seeds - all my seeds were of the feminised variety but i have heard that that doesnt always guarantee you females, its just a higher percentage chance?

ya man, no way your gonna get an oz per plant. Sorry to echo the bad news. With 150w i would be happy with 2-3 oz total. The story goes, if you harvest a gram per watt your doing terrific. So that would be 150g. A pro would claim to be able to get 5 oz. Average grower 3. If its your first grow, 2-3 would be good i would say.

I just checked this morning on the progress and i think i may have a hermie in there as i can see tiny little balls at the internodes of one of the big bang's.

Im hoping its not but im probably just in denial of the situation, i did try and take a pic but it didnt come out right in the resolution so im gonna leave it another day or so to see if they get any bigger but i think i might be one down :-(

remember seed pods will still grow despite there being no pollen although they will be empty. this is what you might be seeing so dont rush into cutting it down straight away. you should think about hps. they are more exspensive but with the amount you get back are totally worth it. good luck with the grow.

Really, you get empty pollen sacs - i didnt know that - how and when can you tell that they are empty???

Heres some pics, the camera resolution isnt the best but i was thinkinng about giving it the chop.

and

what do you guys think i should do?

no not emty pollen sack,s. the small pods that the seeds grow inside. they still grow even without being pollenated but will be empty. if these ''balls'' have pistils growing out of them then they are seed sacks

I am not saying it works since I have never tried it, and most likely never will, but many years ago an old hippie grower I knew said he would coat the male flowers of a hermi with rubber cement to seal in the pollen so he could continue to grow hermi plants and get seedless bud. He swore it worked but as I said I have never tried it and I am not telling anyone to try it or saying if they do that it will work. I am just passing on a bit of old hippie grower trivia/belief that some may find either amusing or possibly interesting.

well if your gonna end up chopping the plant down anyway then you might aswell try bricktops hippie idea as an experiment. also you could try using a thick sugar/water solution to cover the pollen sacks. you have nothing too loose i guess.the thing is you would have too cover the pollen sacks before they start too open even a little bit. but given good timing and a steady hand maybe we could learn something about treating hermies:joint:

Lol interesting theory but i dont want to take the risk of it affecting the other girls... im just wondering now if they are seed sacs or what they are?

Like i say im a newbie, so it it possible that these "sacs" will eventually fill with pollen and possibly pollinate the other girls or do you think they will just be empty seed sacs? I cant tell the difference.

If you have access to sunlight you can change the game quie a bit. Use the 150 watt as a suppliment and if you can let nature increase your yield.
