quick question on carbon filters

does it work well for smell and does it help heat at all?
No doesn't help heat. That is if you're scrubbing. Venting is a different story, I like scrubbing better.

Helps smell tremendously!!!! Get the right size for the task at hand and they can damn near eliminate the smell except for when you handle them of course.

Even then, the proper size unit will eliminate the smell within mins./sec.

If you decide to scrub then your filter should come with a prefilter so have your fan pulling air out of the filter so that the prefilter can catch larger shit, crushed leaves, dirt etc. etc.

Well some claim to have a better design than some. Like Phat Filter. But IDK.

As long as a majority (100% is optimal of course) of your air is traveling through the carbon you should be okay. Use enough carbon for sure. I'm not sure how much you need.

I try to get double the the recommended carbon weight just to feel secure.

Some filters also claim to last twice as long as other and all that hype. May be true maybe not.
