Quick question regarding timer...

Alright boys and girls, been lurking round for a while snooping at grow diarys, feeling very inspired.

I'll be starting my own grow diary soon, but I had a quick question about the timer supplied with my kit, as it's the only thing I'm unsure on.

The timer is;

Ningbo Bainian BND-50/E36
Rated at 240v ~ 13a

Now this timer was supplied with my (otherwise Black Orchid) light/reflector/ballast set up, and I've been assured by the supplier (not manufacturer) that it's suitable for firing up the hps, but I thought I'd get the opinion of the green fingered masses on here, as to me it just seems a cheap household timer.

Listed as heavy duty, contactor relay timer, so hopefully I'm alright! The only difference is the labeling on the back - the eBay listing states max load as 3120w, my timer lists nothing. Just checking though, labels are cheap, safety isn't

If they come with your lights, just buy a spare as a back up.
Any timers that come with my lights I'd actually toss them, most would lay down within a month or two.

An example, I've just lifted one out from a 600w.
It says it's a TG-14, but I'll order a branded timer online & keep the stock timer as a spare.

Thanks for your responses. Yeah, I think I'll be purchasing a branded timer as a primary one, use this one to control the night light in my daughters room!

Has a battery backup in it in case of power outage too, so it always keeps the clock ticking.
