Damn, can't imagine having gone through that. I'm raising a pup right now from 8 weeks old (in my avater). At 16 weeks, we're both attached to each other already. There's nothing greater than watching your little friend grow up by your side and being through all the stages. I love dogs so much... You should raise another one.
One day I will. I will do it with an unwanted one.

I still have one out of the litter left. Her name is diamond, but I think I'm going to start calling her sweetie. She is super sweet too(still not charlie though). They loved each other so much. They were stuck at the hip.

It's always hard, My family just had to put down our kitten when he came down with F.I.P. He completely lost the use of his back legs. I don't know if this will make you feel any better because my kitten had a virus and your dog didn't but we got to the vet she said no ammount of money in the world will save your kitty. Losing pets is one of the hardest things I've had to deal with in my life but things will get better, give yourself time. The good ones always end up having to go so young...

EDIT: I've always thought of it as we gave him as good of a life as we could while we had him. That thought is comforting.

I take no offense and what you said bares some truth. Believe me it weighs heavy on my mind. Especially with the dogs I have left.
But I'm a pretty solitary, reserved, like to be alone type person and my animals are always there for me. So its hard for me not to have them.

But believe me, I know.

i know just have been in a similar situation and realized if i could not afford to spend 1-3 grand in a instant to save somethings life then i shouldnt be responsible for its life, they depend on us to feed water, love and take care of them therefore we need to be the responsible ones and say when or if we should have an animal in that situation, dont be selfish because you want that furry cuteness to give you kisses, ya know?

Only tears can express how sad I am.

He was hit by a car yesterday evening. I felt him up and he didn't feel or act like he had any broken bones. He was even standing on 4 feet when he came up in the yard. But I looked at his gums, which were too white. After goggling, i found it meant or could mean that he had internal bleeding.

I don't have the money to pay for a 1k or more vet bill for surgery. And i know sometimes they can recover from things. Animals, I mean.

I brought him inside last night. Put him in the bottom half of a dog house. I had sheets and stuff in it so he would be comfortable. He didn't act like he was in pain, just very lethargic.

He drank a little water at 1st but then wouldn't take any. I went to sleep around 12am on the couch with him next to it in his crate. I even made eye contact with him right before I fell asleep and he was still alive. I wish I would have stayed up to hold him when he passed.:-(

I woke up at 4am from a very bad dream. You know how you can have a bad dream and be really upset about it yet its of something that wouldn't freak you out that much in real life? Thats the kind of dream it was. I thought about getting something to drink and almost didn't. When I got up I looked at him and I knew....

He was such a good dog. So loving. SO SO SO SO SO loving and sweet. He would have grown into a big ol lapdog. He was born in my bedroom.I was there through the whole process when his mother, brixy gave birth.

I buried him this morning.

There is no way I could tell this whole story to anyone without crying like a baby and I don't wanna do that in front of people so I'm telling y'all. You can't see me cry.

I wish I could tell him how sorry I am for letting this happen:-( View attachment 2420760

Charley looks adorable and very happy,I'm so sorry you lost him they bring us so much joy and so much sadness when we lose them. I know exactly how you feel I've just had my bull mastif boo put down,he was a big old boy and his back legs went,in the end he couldn't walk at all, my other dog who's in my avatar pic misses him so much as we all do. Remember all the times he made you laugh time is a great healer, and you loved him so don't be to hard on yourself.

I had a West Highland Terrier named Charlie (Charly?)
Hef died of a heat stroke when I was a kid.
He was a great dog but slightly over weight because when we were little kids we liked to give him treats more often than needed. Needless to say one hot summer day charlie was chasing us behind the ATV/dirtbikes and had a heat stroke from exhaustion.
We brought him to the vet, all they could do was rub vasaline on his paws to cool him down but it was too late.
All he wanted was to keep up with us.:-(
Great dog, learned my lesson though.
Can't over work your dogs, especially if they are small ones. (we didn't know he was chasing)
Just like a good horse he kept running even though he couldn't take it, sad to think about, but shows the loyalty of the dog.

The best thing I can recommend for dogs is to always try and have a older dog to teach the young one's.
Helps the training 100% imo

Sorry for your loss, keep your head up bro.

sorry bro. My cat and dog have been with me for 12 years and I am dreading the day(s) when they go on. Every movie that I cried to when I was younger was an animal dying or about to die, nothing else. Ill spark one for Charley

My dog was a trooper, she got hit by a car once...well ran into a moving car, knocked her out and was on the way to the vet when I looked in the back of this SUV these nice people that gave us a ride, she was back up happy as a clown, dogs are pretty tough creatures which explains why yours wasn't showing any pain. They tend to hide it, not sure if it's an instinct thing for predators to not recognize but I've seen police dogs take bullets and still take the perp down before dying.

Sorry for your lose, it sucks and you'll always have days where they pop up in your head every now and then but just remember the fun times, yes I know that was generic to say but it helps.
