So... i have a rabbit and i searched google to find out if its poop would make good fertilizer and apparently it really does. Has anyone tried this before with their reefer? Does anyone know what the % of N P K are in it? i would sure love to hear if someone has had success with it as i have an avaible and unlimited source! Thanks ahead of time!

I was actually just reading about that, literally just before I read this post... wierd. I found this page: http://www.plantea.com/manure.htm

Looks a bit silly with all the cartoony pictures, but theres a chart further down the page. It says rabbit manure is 2.4-1.4-0.6. I doubt your rabbits make enough to make it usable as the sole fertiliser, but it'd certainly help. Mix in some potassium source, eg potassium sulfate (sulphate of potash) and youll have a nice balance for the veg stage

i wouldnt use it solely anyhow but you would be very suprised at how much a rabbit poops! we used to have two of them but one died... may he rest in peace. i think that we are on to something here... it seems taht it will make good fertilzer and from what i have read it doesnt have to be composted and is not "hot" so it can be added as close to the plants as desired and directly in the soil, i have also read that you can make a "tea" out of it and use that as well! looks like i just found a free nute source in my own home!! gotta love pets... i will use this when i start my new grow and let everyone know how it works!!

I had rabbits for awhile, and I'm reminded of how damp the litter box and cages were from urine. Generally urine is highly acidic. Make sure to check what it does to your ph.

make sure it compost for a few months before you use it. it's to hot to use straight. some really good threads in the organics section talking about differnt shit.

actually ive been reading that rabbit poop doesnt have to be composted... it can be put directly into the soil without composting, it is not "hot" at all. this is why i am so excited i dont have to do anything but put it in my soil!

ps please read above posts before posting... i have already said this haha

No matter what kind of manure you use, use it as a soil amendment, not a mulch. In other words, don't put raw manure directly on garden soils. Raw manure generally releases nitrogen compounds and ammonia which can burn plant roots, young plants and interfere with seed germination. In fact, it's recommended that all animal manure should be aged for at least 6 months. Many gardeners spread fresh manure in the fall and turn it in to the top 6 inches of soil a month before spring planting:peace:

you are right about it possibly burning the plant roots but if you put it directly in the soil and use it as a mulch then you are probly using entirely too much anyhow but rabbit manure is not described anywhere as a"hot" manure and really DOESNT need composting, im not saying that it is a bad idea, its always a good idea to compost but it is safe to add directly to soils in limited quantities. note that rabbit manure contains alot of phosphorous which is good for flowering... this is exactly why i will be using in my soil. thank you jerry the bunny for the wonderful new ingredient in my grow!

check this article out, it twlls you which manures are hot and which arent, also if you search google about whether or not it may be put directly in soils and gardens all the articles that i can find say it is totally safe to do so, i however WILL be diluting it in a "tea" so that my plants will be able to use it faster and so that i am safe just in case there is unforseen issues that i havent discovered. i will definitely keep everyone posted on this as i begin my new grow (approx. 2 weeks from now) thanks!

I wouldn't tbh... bit unhygenic and dont want the groom smelling of rabbit shit or rabbit hutch.

Buy bat guano, no smell, cheap, organic and does the job.

lol rabbit shit doesnt smell at all... and its not gooey or anything nasty. all it looks like is a little brown nug of hayish fibery looking stuff and you can pick it up with your hands and not worry about too many germs and bunnys sometimes can actually eat their own feces so im pretty sure there really isnt any harmful bacteria. i have had a rabbit for aobut a year and a half and never had a problem with any kind of smell or germs. just a little ball of digested hay...

even so,

1. it's not hygenic for buds your gonna smoke

2. Little bits of rabbit shit which may not smell, will soon start to smell as it will take for ever to break down in soil.

3) Bat Guano is proven to be better and also cheap as chips.

4) Bacteria thrive of nice warm, humid sweaty location and will breed rapidly. FACT.

thats all fine and good but if you had read you would notice taht i am going to use a rabbit poo tea, this consists of boiled rabbit poo in water.... which in turn will kill bacteria if there really is any... which i really doubt and i am not comparing rabbit poo to bat guano, everyone knows that bat guano is a great nutrient source for your plants. i am just going to do an experiment to determine the benefits of rabbit poo on a grow. this is by no means a comparison to any other form of fertilizer just a study on how i myself can get free nutes from something i have an unlmited quantity of already at my disposal and for the information to possibly benefit others taht may grow and own rabbits themselves. isnt that where learning comes from? how can you ever know anything about anything unless you try it out.

and as for smoking something grown with rabbit poo.... my rabbits are probly alot cleaner than some bats haha jk i know they steralize it but i ahve smoked far worse things than rabbit poo.... ewwww

everything i have read, has rabbit poo at a 4-2-1, sounds like a good vegging fert. do you have a tds meter mkay? what ratio are you going to make your tea? are you sure you want to boil all the good stuff out and not just let it steep?

For 120 plants, I hauled 2 truck-loads of Rabbit Manure, planted in it & poor soil. They are kicking ass. Up to 6'-6" right now, 2 more months to go. 2 loads, $20. bucks, I like it.

hey south texas, what's up bro? did you just mulch it into the soil and plant, or did you let it compost for awhile?
