I shoot darts with some Cape Verdeans and regular Joe black Americans and they all said racism is alive and well within their respective groups. It was a great conversation following far to much weed. The woman were far more blunt about it saying they would avoid dating men darker skinned than they were and would never take them to meet the family. The people from Cape Verde said even the islands that make up the country vary in flavor dependent on how much Portuguese ran through your veins. The schools are better and the standard of living is better on the islands where people were thought to have lighter skin. I suppose I had just never given it any thought. Does racism always exist based on who has the power. RBG.
