Ready?: 8 weeks + 5 days: Bruce Banner Update

I shared a week ago right here, if you want to see what a week's growth is looking like for me.

New, updated pics are attached.

From what I can see, most if not all of the trichomes are cloudy now (which suits me -- I lean toward preferring a heady/sativa experience).

The pistils are doing something weird. Even though it seems ready(ish) when I assess trichomes, there are sometimes one or two pistils (usually on the very, very top of the bud). That are a bit lighter than full orange.

My concerns are twofold: 1) Trichomes vs. pistil color: which do I trust here? 2) I plan on harvesting in two batches: top part of the canopy (the fat, ripe stuff) first -- then lower the lights and give the bottom of the canopy 2 or 3 more days.

Am I about the screw this up?

10-14 days. I'm not usually that guy but there is A LOT of hair/fibers on your buds. Might wanna look into ways to cut down on that a little in the future. Almost there

By "hair/fiber," do you mean the pistils? Are a "LOT" a deficiency of some kind? I wasn't keeping a close eye on the number of pistils, because I haven't heard this described as a problem. . .pistil color/recession into the bud? yes.

You want the pistils to be receded I to the buds.

Thanks, I understand. Manny said there were a "LOT of hairs/fibers," and I was asking him if too MANY was an issue. I understand that they need to recede a little bit, so thank you!

I haven't looked closely but I assume he means fibers not from the plant, like dust, animal hair cloth fibers etc.

Ah yes, got it! Thanks (to both of you)

There are a couple pieces like nope pointed out that may be fiber from the twine or something but any chance you have a pet with white hair? My stupid phone automatically max zooms when I push a picture. I could screen shot like nope if you don't have a pet or perhaps white hair yourself lol

if plant is still drinking and feeding - keep going.
Triches are just one small indicator of maturity.
It is far too easy to pull too early. It is extremely hard to pull “ too late “. You want as much mass / weight in its last push to finish line.

Plants give zero shits about calendars and what week of grow you are on. Agree on the yeti / pet gorilla hairs sticking to buds. Not something you want sticking to the flowers.

Pistils will mature off as calyx matures - pretty common for “ 8 week “ strains to actually go 10 weeks or so. Breeder estimates are guides only not set in stone.

Thanks Manny. I see them now. Yes, most of it is twine or wine, but there are some white hairs I found, esp in pic bb5. No, I don't have any white-haired pets, but I'll watch it in the future.

The fibers are from the twine you use, I would let her go a bit longer.

After the first few responses, I went to other places and read more carefully. I'm gonna leave her be, thanks to you guys. Will look for the right combination of : 1) trichs cloudy, erect 2) pistils receded, darker/no whites 3) increased bud swell 4) possible/probably leaf drop or leathering/yellowing, etc. Thanks again, a ton, Buddha.

Lurk “ harvest ready bud pics “ eventually you will leave trich scoping in the past. Many growers can look at flowers and judge without loupes or calendars.

This would not surprise me. I'm a newb, right? And I expected sticky. But I had no freaking clue. One day, about two weeks ago, I reached in with small scissors to do a tiny bit of trimming/moving.

Dear God.

Before I knew it, I was standing there with both f******* forearms glued to this bush, pulling on my forearm hairs. . .I'm like, "Shit."

Then I moved slightly. A few buds decided to unglue from my forearms and sprung in the other directions, promptly clusterfucking themselves into a few other sticky buds.

Lord only knows what kind of hell I inflicted on them. :/

I smoked a little and calmed back down.
