reflector lights

Hi

Im trying to decide between buying either another 600w led or a 400w cob led. Are reflector lights lights better then regular led lights? Will a 400w cob outperform a 600w led?

Yes cob leds do out perform regular led panels. But it all depends on how many watts they actually use...
I've seen so called 600 watt leds that only use 200 watts.... same with some cheap cobs. You need to look at wattage used... not the total it is capable of.. DIY then you know what you have...

Im looking at one that is about 272 actual watts vs a roleadro 400w cree. I believe this has two 200 w chips so this would be the stronger light, am i right?

The cree 3070 used in this light tops out at 120 watts so the most it could be is 240 watts but they are ran softer at 62 watts making the 400 watt light actually
124 watts.. they shouldn't be allowed to make false confusing claims like this!
Not a bad light... good spectrum... just not what they say... what led are you looking at?
Hope this helps!

Cobs are good for DiY but for manufactured fixtures, more discrete emitters over a larger footprint will provide better uniformity.

That logic also applies to cobs - more cobs driven softer the better.

From experience, one of my 89w COBs from Tasty outperforms one or probably both my ViparSpectra 450s.

Before you buy one of those contact @CobKits and see what he has in your price range..
I really think cobs are what you need and cobkits runs em harder. with better components...
Assembling cobs is out of my league at the moment. Is galaxy hydro a better brand then viparspectra?

So where do they come up with 400w? Very confusing.

I think they're trying to say it is a 400 watt equivalent... comparing themselves to hps.. I'm glad I figured it out before
it was to late.. 3 months ago I almost bought two Roleadros.. then I found the led build thread.. saved.me big time..
Just payin back..

In this case 4 times 100 watts then.

Just like the 200W Cree COB that is supposed to be coming out.

These things always have some sort of nominal wattage mentioned
