Relentless freaking heat!

Ok its been ridiculously hot where I live in NorCal. I have been through days of heat before in previous summers, but I believe we have had more than usual hot days this summer, consecutively. I think it is affecting at least one plant in my garden, she looks stressed and the only thing I can figure is this relentless freaking heat.

I am asking you fellow growers what is the best defense against this? Would a product like Silica Blast (or similar product) be a help? Any other suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.


I've been wanting to feed my plants but I have been putting it off because I have heard its not good for them to feed them when its this hot. Also since I have been watering a lot more, I am thinking it might just flush any nutrients I give them out.

I have been watering twice a day.

They can handle nor cal heat. We get strings of one hundred degree plus day every summer. Just give them enough water

just a few more days of heat....my girls are growing like crazy...i water 2x as well...
they aren't trippin.....

Do not use WiltPruf or anything that will interfere with transpiration. When we had the relentless heat here, I misted them every morning and many evenings and made sure they were well hydrated (but do not overwater!). They took it well. And yes, reduce nutes during a stressful heat period. I learned that one the hard way.

I feed them with night watering and plain in the morning. Mine are just thirsty and hungry all the time and the heat hasn't bothered them. I would think if your in the ground u should be fine.

Ive been helping my son replace a timing belt, Its now 100 @ 4000' elev. here in Pioneer. I had to break out a mister (like at disnyland while standing in line) that I have only needed to use when I was working in Riverside. Anyway has anyone used one of these on their crop, if so did help or hinder?

No, not in the ground, in smart pots. I've weathered the Norcal heat before and my plants have been fine. I just don't remember quite so many 100+ days, and it looks like more to come. Yesterday was 108, today will be close to the same. There is just one of the girls that seems stressed.

Imagine how it is for us down here in SoCal!! Its hot as hell.. Ive just been telling all the local growers that I know down here to keep a look out for the signs of heat stress.

Heat stress my arse that is indoor junk. I have plants in full sun all day from sun up to sun down. No wilting at all take care of them and they will be fine. its not the heat. keepem green dirrtyd

Haha, I have seen plenty of outdoor plants get "taco leaves" due to high temps.. Im sure you have kept your plants in optimal conditions tho, ive seen the beasts you grow. Lucky bastard.

Thanks for the replies. I guess its probably something else bothering the one plant. I was just so damn hot and miserable out there today I was probably projecting my own misery as the cause. I'll have to investigate further and see if I can figure out what is really troubling her.

If there is any reflective surface, that could cause issues. Aluminum, glass etc

im in cali also and this heat wave is no joke, i set up a drip system finally and i have been flooding my plants 3 times a day to keep them from wilting..... i am in full sun all day and the only plants that wilt from the heat are cherry pie kush and an girl scout cookie plant. I will continue to grow those two strains indoors because they do not like the brutal summer heat. keep them flooded lol....

that's what I'm doing too....water water water.....I spent 4 hours on the end of a hose yesterday...sheesh..still getting a ton of yellow leaves down in the inside and bottom of the plants but they're hangn' in there. I lost one, but it was a stalk problem not the heat.

Yea man im having the same problem but not too bad...my master kush is pretty hardy and i water daily..yellow leaves here and there but it's natural for plants in heat to do that so dont worry too much

My girls are in full flower and it's 109 today in Tucson. No problem. In ground. I wouldn't want to be in pots.

Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing the yellowing inner and older leaves.....I knew for a fact it couldn't be a N deficiency.......I figured it was just their time to go.

For a soil grow, a silica product is not useful. Soil's loaded with the stuff. cn
