Removing Soil from Root Ball

I was curious and upon consulting Google first with no such luck, Was wondering if it is beneficial to remove soil from the root system by means of PH balanced room temperature water ( dunking the roots like a tea bag ) as to not shock the plant with freezing chlorinated water. I thought about this because I am planting flowers in my yard and after removing the plants and seeing the tornado of roots that were stuck at the bottom of the pot and having to break them up any ways to let the plant know its in the ground and not a pot anymore, I thought would it be less drastic to dunk the plant in water and allow the roots to unravel and thus allowing the plant to start root production again with out thinking its in a pot still.

Im very certain that this has most likely been discussed before but I cannot word what I am trying to gain info on correctly to get google to work for me so links or knowledge would help tremendously.

poke holes in your soil to break roots, breaking them inspires new growth. stay away from your taproot although, that could cause some harm.

Or, score the rootball with a knife/razor. 1/4-1/2" deep on the sides and make an X across the bottom.

Washing the dirt off the root ball is not a good idea. If you want to try it, you can find out the hard way like I did over 35 years ago. Never did it a second time. LOL

Leaving the majority of the soil in place is a preferable imo. the more you mess with the roots, the more likely youll shock the plant

I did this on my first grow on accident by cutting to many times into a plug. Long story short the medium all fell away from the roots and when transplanted the plants growth was stunted the whole veg stage.

Just plant the whole rootball soil and all the roots are smart enough to find the news dirt.

Exactly. Just pop the whole thing out of the pot and into the new one. No need to mess with it all. Otherwise you could shock and stunt the plant
